About this Cook
I am the Mother of five children and two beautiful Step-Daughters. My Husband is a career Soldier and we have been living at Fort Hood TX now for seven years.
My favorite things to cook
1. Southern Food the healthy way (Most of the time) 2. Puerto Rican food (My Husband's family is Puerto Rican) 3. Anything my kids will eat 4. Comfort Food is a big thing with me
My favorite family cooking traditions
For all holidays I cook traditional southern food and traditional Puerto Rican food. I also have picked up a few recipes in our travels as a military family and make those from time to time as well.
My cooking triumphs
I can cook Puerto Rican food from scratch (my Husband's Grandmother taught me).
My cooking tragedies
HAHA! The first time I tried to make cream gravy...I added about a cup of flour to the roux and it was thicker than the mashed potatos!!!!

Mexican Lasagna II
I made this last night and the kids begged me to add it to our monthly menu and make it again! This is a fantastic base recipe, and as most of the others I added a couple of extra ingredients to personalize it for our family. My kids made the suggestions to top it with crunched up tortilla chips next time..I think I'll try it..it's definately a crowd pleaser!

Monkey Bread I
I had forgotten about this! I remember this from my childhood. I made this last night and my kids went nuts for it (and my Husband too!) Just some suggestions for others: 1. Don't boil the caramel sauce, it will crystalize..just bring it up to a boil and remove from heat. Funny thing, I always remembered if you added nuts or raisins to monkey bread then it was called gorilla bread...This is an awesome recipe!
