Diet Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2007
Mmmm mmm good. You could pretty much add just about anything to make this soup your own. I did pre-shredded cabbage, pre-cut celery and onions, canned tomatoes, frozen green beans, pork boullion, water and about 3 tablespoons of olive oil which I think makes the difference between a watery soup and a hearty soup. Yum.

Asian Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2007
Next time I will omit the butter and toast the almonds and sesame seeds just as others had suggested. I also cut down the oil to 1/4 cup and may try cutting it down even more the next time I make this. Tasty salad, all around, although I am still searching for ways to make this a bit healthier, maybe add more cole-slaw mix to give it more bulk. I used one bag of pre-prepped cole slaw mix and thought it was a lot of slaw. But once you add the ingredients and start mixing everything, the volume shrinks down quite a bit. So again, maybe adding an extra bag of slaw, cutting down on the oil, upping the amount of vinegar and soy sauce, and omitting the butter may make this somewhat more healthy. Oh, and I did add the seasoning packet that comes with the ramen, that added extra flavor. UPDATE: I still had tons of leftovers from when I made this a few days ago, so I added another entire bag of pre-mixed slaw, and again, it seemed like a lot, but when you mix it, the volume shrinks down. Definitely just as tasty. I will always use 2 bags the next time I make this, or, just use one bag of slaw, and just one package of ramen and cut out the butter and cut down on the oil as I had mentioned earlier.

Broiled Tilapia Parmesan

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2007
It's pretty good! Although I have to agree, not "five stars" good, it's a bit overrated. It definitely needs more kick, and it's obvious from the reviews that you can cater this to your own specific tastes. I think I will try increasing the amount of onion powder and celery salt and possibly consider adding garlic to the topping to give it a bit more "kick". Otherwise, good, easy recipe, I will certainly make it again.

I still can't get over how EASY this is! There's not much I can say that hasn't already been said! Quick, delicious, unbelievably easy. I can't wait to add extra ingredients like herbs, cheese, etc...

Venice High School Cherry Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2006
I think the powdered sugar gives this a nice delicate texture, overall it has a very buttery kind of taste. Delicious if you're into the shortbread type of cookies (which I am.) I added Christmas colored non-pareils to give it a festive look. I can easily see adding red white and blue ones for July 4th, pastel colored ones for Easter or birthdays, etc... I also added the powdered sugar to the finished baked product. A really great, tasty, butter cookie! And I agree, I could really see these would go well with coffee or tea.

Cocktail Meatballs IV

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2006
Hmmmmm, I'm not sure what I did wrong. It may be the frozen meatball brand I used, but it seemed I couldn't really "taste" the sauce. I'm a little disappointed especially with all the rave reviews, but I will give it another try and hopefully give it five stars next time around! Can anyone out there recommend brands of chili sauce, brand of meatballs, etc... I really want to try this again.
