Salsa Rice

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2011
This was a good recipe, easy and with only a few ingredients. I forgot to add the cheese. My kids and husband ate it up. Next time I'll probably add a little Taco Seasoning and the cheese. Also, I used brown rice, so I had to cook it for 45 minutes, but it was still tasty.

Quinoa with Carrots and Raisins

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2011
This was a great recipe. I think the favorite quinoa recipe of my family so far (with kids age 5, 3 & 1). The flavor was very good and I'm glad I followed the advice of several reviews add by halving the pumpkin spice and 3/4 cup raisins. I also added more carrots, along with celery and spinach. It was great. The more veggies the better for us. We will be making this again. Thanks.

Apple Chicken Quesadillas

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2011
I first made this for a family potluck and everyone asked for the recipe! I always peal and dice the apples. I make it for my family ever few months and it is always great. When I'm in a hurry, I just use salsa instead of chopping everything up. But I prefer the flavor and taste when I chop everything up instead of using the salsa.

Peanut Noodles

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2011
I found this recipe to have too much peanut butter for my taste, next time I'll use a little bit less. I added cooked veggies as well. This is a very quick meal and was easy to make after coming home from work to three hungry children. My husband and co-worker also had dinner with us and they LOVED it. They would have loved some chicken or steak in it.

Carrot Burgers

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2011
This is a great starter recipe. I've never made a veggie burger before and I took other reviewers advice into consideration. I didn't have all the necessary ingredients, so like many others I improvised. I didn't add the sugar either. I shredded instead of diced the carrots. I also added worcestershire sauce and a small amount of sweet potatoes to make sure they didn't fall apart. My whole family enjoyed... but we will do some more trials to see if we can get a flavoring we like better. Thanks for this simple, healthy and delicious "Burger".

Cayenne Pretzels

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2011
These were good and a nice alternative to have around the house. The family liked them but didn't LOVE them. I also wasn't totally awed by the flavors. I may or may not make these again.

Grilled Peanut Butter Apple Sandwiches

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2011
This was awesome (at least according to my kids and husband). In the middle of my dinner preparation (I was making a brand new meal) I realized my kids and husband would not like at all what I was making. I needed something fast and I recalled viewing this recipe. It was so easy and loved by the whole family. Thanks!

T's Sweet Potato Fries

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2011
I used 1 large sweet potato and halved the rest of the ingredients. My 5 year old son loved them. He had tried a salted sweet potato fry last week and didn't like it, so I was concerned he wouldn't like this one, but he loved it. He was also really impressed that we could call it a healthy fry. Thanks!

Chocolate Zucchini Bars

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2010
This was a great and simple recipe. The whole family loved it. I made them as muffins and cooked them for about 25-30 minutes. I substituted applesauce for the vegetable oil. And I did not frost these. It was unnecessary. There were perfectly sweet and moist. Being the chocoholic I am, I was worried about not having enough chocolate flavor, but I only had 4 T. of cocoa left, so that's all it got. The chocolate was not an overwhelming flavor, but it was great for me.

Tuna Cheese Mac

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2010
I have now made this recipe a bunch of times. It is our standard Mac & Cheese recipe. I rarely add the tuna though. I use whole wheat macaroni noodles and also add a couple dashes of Woresteshire. Lastly after putting it together, I pop it in the oven for about 20 minutes at 350. When we are feeling extra extravagant with this, we put french fried onions on top for the last 5 mintues.

Chili Seasoning Mix II

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2010
I never did realize there was chili seasoning at the store. Every time we made chili, I would just use what we had in the cupboard. This is a great flavor and it saves time for me & especially for my husband when we are making chili. Thanks!

Cinnamon Popcorn

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2010
this was tasty and fun. Next time I'll put the mixture over the popcorn in a bowl instead of on a pan to ensure the popcorn is a little more evenly covered.

Southwest Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2010
This was a great salad! I loved making the croutons, I'd never done that before. That being said, I used the Chilli Seasoning Mix II from this site and 2 T. of it made the croutons way to spicy. Next time I'll only use 1 T. for the croutons. I also used a combination of wheat bread and sourdough bread for the croutons. Last change I made was I used Italian Dressing and did not add any extra chili seasoning to that. My family, especially my husband really liked it. Thank you!

Dill Veggie Tuna Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2010
I was looking for a meal to throw together in just minutes with ingredients I had in the house. This fit that bill. It was very good. I did not have dill so I didn't use that. I used 1 1/2 cups wheat macaroni noodles. 1/2 cup seems like much too small of a measurement. 1 1/2 cups was a GREAT amount, not too much, not too little. Everything else I kept the same. My kids (5 and 3) at it well and asked for seconds. Thanks Lilah for a quick and easy recipe!

Strawberry Pound Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2010
I used this recipe because I was looking to use up some fresh strawberries before they went bad. I ended up making some of the same changes as the other reviewers. 1. I used butter. I almost never use shortening and didn't have it in the house. 2. I used whole milk with lemon juice to make the buttermilk as I didn't have any. 3. I used fresh strawberries and I added blueberries. 4. I didn't have pecans. 5. I only used 1/2 cup of sugar for the glaze and I'm glad I didn't use the whole cup, it would have been too sweet. 6. I cooked it about 1 hr and 5 minutes. That was a good amount of time for me. I found this to be a good recipe. My husband really liked it warm. I found that I'm enjoying it much more one day later!!! I'm sure I'll make it again. Thanks!

Beans, Beans, and Beans

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2010
This was a great recipe. I knew my husband would like it, but the kids really liked it to. I prepared everything the night before and let it sit in the slow cooker all day. It would have been really great with some corn bread. This did make a HUGE amount, so don't make the full amount if you don't want leftovers.

Chili Casserole

Reviewed: May 30, 2010
This was a great recipe. I made three changes, but it turned out great. 1. I added a can of Kidney Beans 2. I added a can of Tomato Sauce (this is MUST for this recipe) 3. I used more cheese about 2 cups (we like cheese) a mix of Mozt. & Cheddar Also, for the Chili Seasoning, I used a Tablespoon of the Chili Seasoning Mix II from here, it was great!. I also whole wheat macaroni noodles. I find that they give the noodle more flavor and texture.

Best Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: May 22, 2010
This was a good frosting! I liked that it didn't call for too much sugar. My husband really liked it too! I used powdered sugar because I never use white sugar for frosting. I also added color for a "star wars" cake I was doing... Color was okay, but made the frosting look more grainy.
