About this Cook
I'm 31 years old. I'm a talk radio junkie. I live alone with my dog a Chuhuahua/ Daschund mix named Brutus. I love to cook especially for men and boys because they eat with such pleasure and never realize that home-cooked takes little effort. I am learning to can and preserve food. I love it! The company for whom I worked for 6 years folded last year. I am going back to school and working 3 part-time jobs. The only thing that would make my life better would be a regular man for whom I could cook.
My favorite things to cook
...anything with chicken. I seem to be able to do amazing things with chicken, ask the males in my life. I like to try new things based on what's in my pantry at the time. I make birthday cakes for the Sunday School class that I teach. They are teenagers and young adults and they post requests on FaceBook.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We get all of our spices from Amish country in Ohio even though we live in Phoenix. We us a lot of old Amish recipes. They know what they're doing.
My cooking triumphs
I start with basic recipes and add and subtract based on my pantry or taste and I've rarely gone wrong. Chicken with thyme and rosemary baked, smoked, fried, boiled in soup... you just can't go wrong.
My cooking tragedies
Lentils... I cannot seem to make them well. They are mush. Also, there is no human way to make brussell sprouts edible. I can eat beef lips and tongue in traditional Mexican dishes but lentils and brussell sprouts are the death of me.

Eggplant Parmesan II
We get free eggplants from our food ministry and none of us know what to do with them. Now we do! This was wonderful! I made if for our church Bible Institute and it was such a hit.

Cheater Pancake Syrup
We have a pancake breakfast after our sunrise service on Easter Sunday. My contribution is homemade syrup for 100+. I just made this recipe and used my homemade vanilla. This tastes great and is already a hit! It was easy and cheaper than the store bought stuff and I know what the ingredients are!!!

Cake Mix Cookies VI
I tried this with Devil's Food cake mix and it was a hit! I made them for 18 hungry people and everyone got more than one. It was fast and tasted great with the peanut butter.
