Sloppy Joes II

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2008
I made these for dinner last night and my husband who normally eats like a bird ate 5 of them! I had between a pound and pound and a half of meat, so I guesstimated adding more ketchup, mustard and brown sugar to get these to the right consistency. I also added about a tablespoon Worcestershire sauce as it seemed to need more liquid. I think next time I may try doubling the recipe and leaving this in the crock pot all day. Manwich, eat your heart out! These are so good and easy I will definitely be making them again and from the family's reaction I'm certain it'll be requested soon.

Baked Pork Chops I

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2007
My husband loves these and has bragged on them so much I've had to give out the recipe 3 times already. I doubled the sauce as suggested by others.

Amish Macaroni Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2007
I gave this recipe 4 stars due to the changes I made due to suggestions from other reviewers. I omitted the relish due to personal preference, cut the sugar to 1/2 cup and used mayo instead of salad dressing to cut the sugar a little more. I also used the entire 16 oz. box of pasta rather than measuring 2 cups. I let it sit in the fridge overnight and took it to a football gathering. There were no leftovers, even though I doubled the recipe. One friend went so far as to call this the best macaroni salad she had ever tasted!

Becki's Oven Barbecue Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2007
Both I and my husband enjoyed this. I would have given it 5 stars except I followed the advice of other reviewers to end up with my final product. I added hot sauce, soy and chili powder, as well as halved the ketchup. I will be trying this BBQ sauce on pork next. This sauce recipe is a keeper.

Broiled Tilapia Parmesan

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2007
I made this for dinner last night and my husband RAVED about it. He doesn't usually enjoy fish so I was surprised at his reaction. I made several changes due to my reading the instructions after putting the fillets in the oven. I couldn't find my Parmesan cheese so substituted a provolone/mozzarella blend. I also coated the fish prior to broiling. They still came out fantastic. I'm lucky this recipe is so forgiving.

Best Peanut Butter Cookies Ever

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2007
These were moist, but you can hear the sugar crunching between your teeth when you eat them. Lacks something, but not bad for a quick easy cookie.

Bow Ties with Sausage, Tomatoes and Cream

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2007
This was delicious. I made some changes based on suggestions by other reviewers. I used penne pasta and the diced tomatoes with Italian seasonings. I added a small can of mushrooms, and I used the entire pint of cream. While most of these alterations worked just fine, next time I will stick to the 1.5 cups on the cream. I had to double the simmer time in order to get the right consistency. If I had followed the recipe on the cream, this would have been a quick and easy home run. Both I and my husband loved it and it's so easy. This recipe is a keeper!

Chicken and Bacon Shish Kabobs

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2007
These were ok. I think my husband over-cooked them. I'll try them again and keep an eye on my watch once they hit the grill.

Chili-Lime Chicken Kabobs

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2007
I marinated the chicken for 2 days because our cook-out got rained out. Everyone loved the presentation as well as the flavor. Like other reviewers, I will use this marinade on chicken breasts in the future whether I plan to make kabobs or not.

Baked Ziti I

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2004
Made this last night to rave reviews. I split the recipe in half using two 8 x 8 pans so I could freeze half. I'll definitely be making this again.

Chicken Enchilada Dip

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2004
We had some friends over for New Years Eve and this was the hit of the evening! Didn't try it in a crock pot this year, but probably will next time. The biggest problem with it is that it gets cold. I was able to pop this back in the oven for a few minutes and still be able to enjoy my friends. We're considering having friends over for Super Bowl and this is going to be a repeat if that happens. This appetizer hits a HOME RUN, even if you ARE watching football!

Grandma Winnie's Turkey Stuffing

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2001
I made this stuffing for Thanksgiving and everyone loved it. I mistakenly bought the italian seasoned broth, but used it anyway. Even guests who said they usually don't like stuffing tried it and asked for seconds.
