Slow Cooker Macaroni and Cheese I

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2014
This worked well for me. I was skeptical since I have not done it without cooking the macaroni first. I did add melted butter to the recipe, about 2 T. I also just used whole milk, 3 C, rather than the milk and evaporated milk. My kids gobbled it up. I also like the eggs in the recipe, we don't mind that it is not a creamy mac and cheese. It's more of a sticky one. I accidentally left the crock pot on high and it cooked within 2 hours then started to burn. It did not curdle though, luckily someone was home to turn it to 'keep warm'. If you are used to Velveeta tasting mac n cheese you will think this recipe bland. We love the taste of it though, it is more like homemade. I like that this recipe does not require Velveeta or canned soup although I bet those are TASTY additions. We like to keep it without the additional processed foods.

Meatball Sandwich

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2008
This was my first try at meatballs and tasting a meatball sandwich. I was very pleased with the ease of the recipe, it was very quick too! I always thought meatballs would be a very time consuming thing to make. These sanwiches were a huge hit with my husband, my 3 year old daughter and me. The recipe will go in my favorites for dinner! I did double the italian seasoning and eggs per other reviewers suggestions and found the meatballs very tasty, not overpowered by seasoning. I also added garlic powder and onion powder. Fast and delicious, a meal that makes it look like you worked a long time to make it!

Taco Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2008
This is a great recipe! My husband gave me many compliments and it satisfied his appetite as well. Most salads don't. I did add black beans, olives and green chilis. I used a chipotle taco seasoning that was very tasty and a little spicy. we don't use Catalina dressing so I did use ranch dressing and salsa. It was delicious!

Scalloped Cabbage with Ham and Cheese

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2007
We enjoyed this recipe a lot. I don't like processed cheese so I used shredded cheddar. The second time I made it I used French's Fried Onions on top while it baked the last 15 minutes. It was better than the bread crumbs.

Stuffed Jalapenos III

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2007
These were a hit at a football party. They look really special too, everyone was impressed. The smaller jalapenos I used were much hotter than the larger ones. I did add garlic powder to the cream cheese while in the mixer. I also wore latex gloves, which was helpful when I cleaned the peppers, but I should have left them on while stuffing the peppers. The bacon I used was thick cut so they took 45 minutes to cook, it wasn't as crispy so thinner bacon may be better. These went fast! Plan atleast 3 half peppers per person.

Four Cheese Margherita Pizza

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2007
Yummy! This is so good. I use Boboli thin crust and added pepperoni to one pizza to please my family. I didn't want to spend the money on the different cheeses so I found a shredded mix of Italian cheeses at the store, then I did add the feta. This pizza is really good warmed up as a leftover also!!

Beer Margaritas

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2007
Bless you, Bless you, Bless you!! This is the greatest recipe. I made these once and now I feel like having one every night because they are so easy and can last a while (atleast a week) in the fridge. I just used cheapo tequila and cheapo Keystone light beer. I have made them with water and with lemon/lime soda. Both good. Next I will try the Corona instead, another excuse to make them again!

Shrimp Scampi Bake

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2007
I love this recipe! It is so easy and looks and tastes fancy! On the advice of other reviewers I just melted the butter mixture in the 13X9 dish in the oven. I did only use 3/4 C butter and that was plenty. I also added 1/4 C of white wine which was also a previous reviewers idea. The second time I made this dish I added chopped broccoli to the melted butter mixture for a few minutes before I added the shrimp. It was very, very good!!

Berry Sour Cream Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2007
This cake was a huge hit. The most common comment was that they didn't like cake but loved this one. I was asked for the recipe by 3 people. This cake was very easy although it did take longer to bake than the recipe said. I also used more berries than called for. YUMMY!

Strawberry Angel Food Dessert

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2007
This recipe was great on short notice, everyone loved it. The only thing I did not like about it was the strawberry glaze. I STRONGLY recommend you make your own glaze which is simple. I will make this again with my own glaze. If I was short on time I wouldn't use the store glaze...I would use no glaze at all.

Brunch on the Bayou

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2007
This was very tasty and it was different than the usual breakfast casserole. The white wine gives it a great taste. Very easy to make, I used turkey sausage and 1/2 pepperjack cheese, 1/2 medium chedder. I do not think I used as much cheese as it calls for though. I will definately make this my number one breakfast recipe.

Artichoke, Cheese and Olive Antipasto

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2007
I loved this recipe. I used it as an appetizer with baguette bread. I had to use meunster cheese (could not find smoked provolone.) This recipe made a lot even though I scaled it down for 6 people. It was still good to eat 5 days later. VERY easy and looks special for guests. I will make again!

Beer Cheese Pretzel and Dip

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2006
Everyone raved about the pretzels and the dip. The dough was sticky and I tried adding extra flour but it became a mess. I just ended up stretching it accross my cookie sheet and baking, then cutting it up. Very good and fun to make. I used Miller High Life beer.
