Split Pea Soup Atu

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2009
Deff. read the reviews before you start. I also used about 1/2 the water and added rice towards the end. Could have used a bit more pepper flakes or hot pepper sauce, but it was delich!! Hubby raved about it. I also cooked it in a crock pot for about 6 hours (high to start, then on low for about 4 hours). I threw in some leftover turkey from Thanksgiving too...

Cheesy Green Chili Rice

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2008
I've been making this dish for years. The entire family loves it! Add bite-sized, boneless/skinless cooked chicken breasts to the layers to make this a main dish. I've also incorporated garlic powder to the top after it comes out of the oven. Delicious!

Triple Berry Crisp

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2008
5 stars all the way!! This was excellent and so easy to make. I did reduce the butter to only 1 cup and increased the berries to about 5 cups as suggested in other reveiws. When cutting in the butter, make sure it's very cold or even frozen beforehand or you won't get the crispness on top. If the butter tends to get soft while you're cutting it into the mix, just turn on the broiler for a few minutes after it's thourghly cooked.

Sauteed Curried Corn

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2008
Amazingly quick and delicious!!! I used a lot less butter (about 1/2) and more granulated garlic instead of the powder. Topped it off with a little cayenne pepper and everyone loved it!

Mexicali

Reviewed: May 20, 2008
Yum! This was quick and delicious. The whole family enjoyed it. After reading the other reviews, I altered the recipe just slightly... I added cumin, white pepper and salt to the chicken breasts, put tortilla chips on top, covered and baked for 15 min. Removed the foil, added the cheese and baked for the additional 30 min. Reminded me a lot of chilaquiles.

Cowboy Skillet Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2008
This was the easiest recipe - and DELICIOUS! My entire family liked it (even the pickiest 7 year old!). I added a cup of frozen corn and a can of diced tomatoes to the meat mixture and a handful of grated cheese to the top, before I spread the cornbread. I topped it off with sour cream and diced jalepenos when it came out of the oven.

Pecan Pie Bars II

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2007
These were so easy and so very good!! Make sure you coat the pan really well or they will stick! after the pan cooled, I put it in the freezer to help firm up the bars a bit and they were great frozen too.

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2007
So easy and SO delicious! I made this pie as a last min. dessert for a dinner party and everyone loved it. I poured a little of the mixture into the bottom of the crust and tossed a little cinnamon with the apples before I placed them in the shell. Make sure you have vanilla ice cream to go along with it!

Surprisingly good! I left out the bacon, but I think it definitely needs it. My kids loved this recipe and it's so easy!

Puppy Chow I

DELICIOUS! But be careful inhaling while eating. The powdered sugar is enough to choke you, but great flavor!

Boilermaker Tailgate Chili

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2007
This is by far the best chili recipe I've ever made!!! I won 1st place in a chili cook-off and no one could believe there was chocolate in it. I too cooked it the day before in a slow cooker and just warmed it up the next day. Seems to be a lot more flavorful that way. I occasionally omit the celery and it's fine without. I think you could probably get away with throwing a lot more stuff in this one and still have the great flavor.

Stained Glass Candy I

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2007
My 13 year old son made this at Christmas and I was amazed at how well he did! He used peppermint extract to flavor. The pieces can be very sharp, so be very carful when braking it apart. All the kids loved it!

Basic Yankee Bread Stuffing

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2007
I usually do not enjoy stuffing - AT ALL - but this one is good! I didn't drain the sausage and added a little more chicken broth for moisture. My family keeps asking for it at during the holidays! A simple and 'traditional' recipe.

Baked Zesty Carrots

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2006
This is a tradition in our family! The horsradish isn't overwhelming and a much tastier alternative to boring baked, boiled or steamed carrots. I always use bread crumbs instead of the corn flakes.
