Ginger Veggie Stir-Fry

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2011
yum. Thanks for giving me a way to use that fresh ginger and all the veggies in my kitchen! Wow, that makes up for the McDonalds I ate at lunch!! :) I used green cabbage, mushrooms, carrot, green onion, spinach, broccolini, and snow peas (I had a lot of vegetables in my fridge!)

Spinach and Leek White Bean Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2007
A great way to make a soup with leeks as an alternative to a heavy potato leek soup. Light and filling. I followed the directions as stated, ended up adding about 8 oz extra water. I did use more than just the white of the leek- about 5" higher to include some of the greens. For best flavor, use a good quality chicken stock- not just boullon or canned "chicken broth" --it will be more expensive but gives soups a much richer flavor.

Soda Cracker Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2010
my grandmother used to make these :) It was great to find an official recipe rather than grandma's 'guesstimates'. Crackers will shift when they are put in the oven, so fill the pan rather than keeping them in the middle. I also use parchment or non-stick foil to ease cleanup.

Austrian Pancake

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2012
....at first I thought that this wasn't all that impressive...now that I'm back probably for the 7th or 8th time to remake this pancake I guess I'm sold. I now crave this poofy egg goodness.

Armenian Lentils

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2010
tastes just like the lentils a coworker once made for me :) Yum! I cut down both the salt and pepper to 3/4 and still has a very strong pepper flavor. I might try again with other complementary flavors.

Baked Lamb Chops

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2007
I was a little worried to actually cook lamb at home. Followed the suggestion to add a little honey and used Japanese bread crumbs for extra crunch. Also added a bit of fresh rosemary. Looked very impressive to my guests.

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2006
Can I say YUM? this is THE recipe that I have been looking for- I have tried over 10 different "sugar cookie" recipes...and this is the best yet. I was worried how I would be able to roll out to 1/4" and still be able to cut and move onto the pan- worked like a charm...Cooling solidifies the butter, so it is a little difficult to roll out-use your elbow grease!

Balsamic Bruschetta

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2010
Although I 'knew' the ingredients to bruschetta...I wanted to double check a recipe. The balsamic and parm was an interesting twist from what I had planned, but reminded me of a caprese salad. So- I went for it. YUM. YUM. YUM. So simple and delicious! I just ate about a cup of it with a spoon! The only thing I did different was blanch the tomatoes and peel them....well, and didn't make it to cutting the bread first. mmmmmmmmmm

Best Peanut Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2008
I have only tried this recipe- it has the easiest ingredients! I have made this twice- both times adding a splash of rice vinegar and this time adding crushed ginger. It ALWAYS fakes me out- mixed in the bowl it looks horrible and then- Wa-la it turns into a great peanut sauce! Very filling- I always eat about 1/2 of the portion I served myself! Very yummy

Roasted Brussels Sprouts

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2007
Best brussels sprouts that I have ever had. All guests at the table agreed even those who initially said 'brussel sprouts...ewww' I put a tad too much salt, but that was my fault.

Beet and Mache Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2007
First off, we didn't have Mache, so substituted mixed greens. I really didn't know what tarragon was, but was pleasantly suprized by the minty licorice taste. Beets were yummy and the sweetness of the beet was a good complement to the vinegar.
