Rocky Road Candy

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2007
I made this for Thanksgiving- I had to make an secound batch because the first batch did not make to Thanksgiving day!! Totally awesome! My family went crazy for it! I used salted dry roasted peanuts- It gave it that salty sweet taste- It made the fudge very memorable- I have been requested to bring it for Christmas!- Very easy and fast even for a kid or beginning cook!

Perfect Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2007
This is the best!! I did howevermake changes, especially after reading other reviews- I like a less spicy pie and some vanilla- I only used the teas. of cinnamon and not the other spices- I added a little brown sugar and a little white sugar- also a tablespoon of vanilla- I know that sounds like a lot but my pie was without a doubt the best pumpkin pie we had ever tasted-- I baked until you could tell at a glance that it was set- and used my crust covers to keep my crust perfect! My husband's favorite is pumpkin pie and he was bragging to everyone about my pie!! Easy even for a beginner!!

Easy Honey Mustard Mozzarella Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2007
Very tastey!! My husband loved it!! I eat low carb so I used sugar free honey and it turned out great! After reading reviews (thanks guys), I added my bacon when I first put in oven so bacon would cook more and added the cheese later as the recipe suggested we are also not a lemon pepper kinda family so I just used salt and pepper - excellent!

Spaghetti Pizza Lasagna

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2007
It was pretty good- I cut the milk to 2/3 cup and added spices to it- baked it for 45 mins. at 375 degrees then added cheese to top and cooked an additional 10 minutes- had no problem with it setting up - I also added more spices (Italian seasonings)- and real onions when I browned the beef- I loved it but my husband and son just "liked it"- It actually tastes better the 2nd day reheated-

Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich with Garlic Mayo

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2008
AWESOME!! BUT.. I CHEATED- I USED MINCED GARLIC IN THE JAR (ALL I HAD)- MIXED WITH MY MAYO AND PEPPER AND SAT IN FRIDGE TO SOAK UP THE GARLICKY GOODNESS- I USED "STEAK-UMS" AND USED SWEET ITALIAN BREAD FROM THE BAKERY- ALSO ITALIAN MIXED SHREDDED CHEESE- I ALSO SUBSTITUTED MUSHROOMS FOR THE GREEN PEPPERS AS MY HUSBAND ONLY EATS BELL PEPPER RAW (YEAH, I KNOW, GO FIGURE)- I COVERED BOTH SIDES OF MY MY BREAD WITH CHEESE AND THE VEGGIES AND PUT UNDER BROILER AND LET BROIL WHILE I COOKED THE STEAKS- BEFORE ADDING THEM TO MY BREAD I SLATHERED ON THE MAYO-- HOLY COW! MY HUSBAND AND SON GOBBLED ALL LICKED THE PLATE-- GARLIC MAYO TOTALLY OUTRAGEOUS! WILL ACTUALLY USE ON OTHER THINGS LIKE SANDWICHES AND BURGERS!!

IT WAS GOOD! Pecan Pie V

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2008
I HAVE TO SAY THIS IS AN EXTREMELY FORGIVING RECIPE- ONLY I CHANGED IS I ADDED 1 1/2 CUPS OF NUTS AND IT WOULD HAVE BEEN FINE WITH THE RECOMMENDED 1 CUP- I ADDED EXTRA VANILLA- I LOVE VANILLA!! AFTER I LOWERED MY TEMP I SET MY TIMER FOR 30 MINS TO CHECK THE PIE AND DOZED OFF ACROSS THE BED- I DID NOT HEAR THE ALARM- SO THE PIE WAS AT 350 FOR 1HR AND 15 MINS- INSTEAD OF THE 30 - 40 MINS- IT WAS STILL ACTUALLY REALLY GOOD- AND SURPRISINGLY VERY EDIBLE- I CAN IMAGINE IT HAS TO BE TOTALLY AWESOME WHEN YA COOK IT RIGHT- TRYING AGAIN

Tater Tot Casserole II

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2008
EXCELLENT MAN AND KID RECIPE!! BASED ON OTHER SUGGESTIONS (THANX GUYS)- I ADDED A COOKED POUND OF GROUND BEEF WITH A SMALL ONION CHOPPED AND COOKED IN IT TO THE TATOR TOTS- I USED HALF SOUR CREAM AND HALF MAYO- I DOUBLED THE CHEESE- ADDING 1/4 CUP CHEESE OVER THE MEAT AND TOTS- 1 CUP IN SOURCREAM/ SOUP MIX AND THE OTHER 1/4 CUP ON TOP BEFORE PUTTING ON THE FRIED ONIONS- I ONLY HAD THE SMALL CAN OF ONIONS- NOT THE BIG ONE IT CALLED FOR AND IT WORKED PERFECT- I THINK IT WOULD HAVE BEEN MAYBE TOO MUCH SINCE I HAD THE X-TRA CHEESE ON TOP- IT WAS A VERY BEAUTIFUL AND APPETIZING LOOKING CASSEROLE- DEFINITELY A GOOD CASSEROLE FOR KIDS AND HUSBANDS/BOYFRIENDS!!!!!!!!! OH YEAH- TASTES BETTER NEXT DAY AND DEFINITELY TASTES BETTER IF IT SITS A WHILE AFTER REMOVED FROM OVEN!! I NEEDED TO TEST DRIVE IT COZ I NEED A FAMILY TYPE CASSEROLE FOR A FAMILY REUNION NEXT WEEK- IT IS PERFECT FOR THAT!!!

Homestyle Turkey, the Michigander Way

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2008
THIS MAKES FOR AN AWESOME TURKEY!! VERY JUICY!! BUT... I USED THIS RECIPE IN CONJUNCTION WITH " APPLE BRINE FOR TURKEY THE NIGHT BEFORE COOKING"-- SO I DO NOT KNOW HOW MY TURKEY WOULD HAVE BEEN WITH JUST THIS RECIPE ALONE!! GREAT FLAVOR, MADE GREAT GRAVY!! AFTER BRINING AND COOKING MY TURKEY COULD NOT BE MOVED!! HE WAS FALLING APART- NEXT ONE I WILL PROBABLY TRUSS UP!! KEEP IN MIND IF YOU DO THE BRINING THE NIGHT BEFORE THAT YOUR TURKEY WILL COOK UP TO AN HOUR QUICKER- MAKES IT HARD TO JUDGE WHEN YOUR LAST 45 MINUTES OR SO ARE TO BROWN YOUR TURKEY- TRY IT YOU'LL NOT BE DISAPOINTED!!!

Make Ahead Party Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2008
OK HERE'S THE DEAL WITH THESE POTATOES!! IF YOUR FAMILY LOVES SOUR CREAM- THE WILL DEMOLISH THESE POTATOES!! IF YOUR HUSBAND OR DAD DOES NOT LIKE SOURCREAM (LIKE MINE), THEN THEY WILL NOT LIKE THEM- THERE IS NONE OF THEM LEFT THOUGH!! MY SISTER ATE 3 BOWLS- MY BROTHER COULD NOT BELIEVE THEY WERE INSTANT!! AS FOR ME THE COOK, THEY ARE VERY EASY, YOU CAN MAKE THEM 2 DAYS AHEAD AND LEAVE IN FRIG TO BAKE YOUR DAY OF- THIS IS A BIG, BIG PLUS!!! MOST THE INGREDIENTS IN IT ARE ALSO ON SALE AT HOLIDAY TIME- ANY OTHER TIME THAT'S A LOT OF SOURCREAM AND CREAM CHEESE AND BUTTER- ALL IN ALL, WHEN ALL IS SAID AND DONE, IT'S A GREAT FAMILY RECIPE!!!

Danish Puff

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2008
MY HUSBAND CALLS THIS THE "CHRISTMAS PUFF" BECAUSE HIS MOM MADE IT EVERY YEAR FOR cHRISTMAS- SO EVERY YEAR IT WOULD NOT BE CHRISTMAS FOR HIM WITHOUT IT- SO I MAKE IT- I AM AN AWESOME COOK BUT NOT MUCH OF A BAKER AND I CAN BAKE THIS- THEY LOOK LIKE THE UGLIEST THINGS YOU'VE EVER MADE- BUT... WHEN YOU COVER THEM WITH THE GLAZE- ALL THE UGLINESS IS GONE AND YOU ARE LEFT WITH SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL AND YUMMY- HIS MOM TINTS THE GLAZE RED AND GREEN WITH FOOD COLORING FOR CHRISTMAS- WALNUTS ARE ALSO GOOD ON TOP-MOST OF THE TIME WE PUT NO NUTS ON TOP- WE PREFER JUST VANILLA EXTRACT NOT ALMOND- TRY IT IT IS VERY DIFFERENT!!
