Old Fashioned Apple Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2006
Great flavor. I also brushed the crust with egg and covered the edges to prevent burning of the crust. However, mine came out watery too. I agree with the reviewer who suggested doubling the amount of flour. I will try this because this pie is worth the effort.

Blueberry Flax Pancakes

OUTSTANDING!!!! not grainy like other flax/soy/oat/buckwheat pancakes I've had. This is the most enjoyable way to get those Omega-3's in!

Oat Crusted Fish

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2008
I thought this was REALLY REALLY GOOD. I loved how crispy it turned out. And to be honest, the fact that there is something sort of healthy in the breading made me feel like it wasn't so bad frying it up. :) The only thing I would do next time is maybe put some salt and/or seasoning in with the flour. I'm not a big "frying" person, but I was really impressed! I thought it would be pretty boring.

BUSH'S® White Chicken Chili

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2007
It needs some heat... top with jalapenos if you're into heat. Goes great over nacho chips (Tostitos Gold were really good with it). I would probably give it 4.5 but it's not quite as good as one I had in a tavern nearby, hence the 4 star rating. FIVE STARS for ease of cooking, though!

Maryland Crab Cakes II

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2007
Outstanding, simple recipe for crabcakes. I love the taste of crabmeat and I don't like to adulterate it too much. This is the perfect recipe if you feel the same way. I used regular mustard and Italian breadcrumbs since it's all I had and it turned out terrific. My husband asked me to save the recipe.

Steph's Summer Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2008
Once you've added your seasoning and oil to taste, I think this is REALLY good. But you do have to like pepper or forget it. Also, add halved cherry tomoates for color or other veggie of coice. Suggest using tricolored pasta for color if no tomatoes available.

Cabbage Beef Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2007
I didn't have and beef broth or boullion and prefer to leave out the sodium anyway. This was still everything I had hoped and more. Great soup! And great for dieting!

Eggplant Parmesan II

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2006
Excellent! I would think that the sauce you use would be the greatest determinant of whether or not you wind up liking this recipe. I used slices of LIGHT mozerella because I like the look better. And I used tomato basil sauce by Classico (no added sugar or nasty additives). It was a huge hit! Even with the 20-month-old! For company, I would make it without the low fat ingredients.

Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2006
I did make this several different ways, the original being the very best. I also made it with wheat flour to make it "healthy" and it was good, but did taste like health food. That would be good for the health nut in your life. I also made it using applesauce as a substitute for half the oil and eggbeaters. Admitedly not as good as the original, but a great low fat alternative. It's also good for those who like a less heavy and rich bread. It came out lighter and fluffier. I also wonder if I could use more pumpkin (like the rest of the can) in place of some of the oil. I did use canola oil, by the way, and it was still fantastic.

Banana Date Flaxseed Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2008
I have made 3 banana bread recipes from this site. This is by FAR the best even though it's the "healthiest". Yeah, yeah, I know there's sugar in it, but at least there's wheat flour (in mine), tons of ground flax (I bought mine milled and didn't use any whole seeds since they are worthless) and MY KIDS LOVE IT!!! Can't ask for better than that.
