Biscuit Baking Mix

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2009
i halved this recipe, because i wasn't sure how it would turn out. this was very easy to put together in my food processor. i had to use half golden crisco and half regular to make a full cup, cuz that's all i had. so far i've only made biscuits, but man, oh, man....these are the BEST biscuits i have ever made. they were light and fluffy. i had some whipping cream i wanted to use up so i used half cream and half water in the recipe. i don't know if this had anything to do with the texture, but it almost reminded me of the biscuits u would get at one of the seafood restaurants,or a take out chicken joint. i also brushed them with a melted butter, onion and garlic powder mixture as soon as i took them out of the oven. YUMMY! i like to make things from scratch, so i never really liked to use the store bought varieties, but have used them in a pinch, only to leave the rest(most) of the box in my cupboard until the due date was up and then i would throw it out. Not any more. i store this mix in my freezer. i will never BUY biscuit mix again. i can't wait to use it in some other recipes. thanks for sharing!

Austrian Tea Cakes

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2007
these cookies are awesome. i found the recipe on this site 2 weeks ago and i've had to make them three times. i'll be making them again for the family christmas party this weekend. i only gave it 4 stars cuz they're a bit time consuming and messy (with all the icing sugar) but well worth it.just a quick note to add, i dredged them 4 or 5 at a time when they were still hot. this melts the icing sugar a bit and makes them a little sticky. i then dredge them again when warm. this ensures a generous coating of icing sugar that looks spectacular!

Ham Cake-ettes

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2012
oh my goodness, avon! these are DELICIOUS! i made them tonite for a snack. we didn't really have dinner. i had to stop myself after the fourth one, cuz someone else may want some! LOL. i had two cups of mashed taters, so i used them up. i did however forget to add the dill. i have no explanation, so i look at it this way...another layer of flavour to look forward to the next time. there will absolutely be a next time. oh, i opted not to fry and baked them at 375 deg for 45 min. turning them halfway. nice and crisp on the outside. YUM! thanks for sharing with us Avon :) okay....update. i was very fortunate to have one leftover. i had it for breakfast the next morning with a fried over easy egg draped over top. it was amazing. you have no idea. you must try this!!!!!

French Bread with the Kitchen Aid

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2010
Baking Nana, you've done it again! twice in one week. i was very skeptical about this recipe although it seemed to be easy, my bread making skills are, shall we say, lacking. This recipe was easy. although i did kind of cheat by making the dough in the bread machine, as my KA is in storage temporarily. the real test will be when i can use her to make this recipe. This bread is light and airy and sooooooo Yummy. i made two baguettes. i ate half of one with my bowl of pasta e fagioli. i can't wait to have some more later with butter and jam, or maybe some nutella or maybe dip it in some maple syrup! i'm very excited now that i can make bread. i can't wait to make this again. Thanksabunch, Baking Nana!

oh man, these are awesome! i've tried a few waffle recipes on this site and while they were good....not as good as these. i love the texture. doesn't go mushy when topped with butter and syrup. i had four waffles left over. they're in the freezer now. i hope they turn out just as good once thawed and/or toasted! thank you so much, Love, for the sharing your recipe. this is a definite keeper:)

Nana's Favorite Fruit Cobbler

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2010
this was very good! i was worried a tad, when i took it out of the oven and noticed the butter had pooled in places on top of the crust, which didn't look like it was ready yet, so i put it back in for 5 extra mins. butter still pooled here and there, but as t cooled it disappeared. i don't have a sweet tooth, and don't normally eat my baking, but i had seconds, and just in time too, or i would have been S O L !!!!! i'm going to try this with apples next time. Thanks for sharing, baking nana:)

Banana Oat Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2010
these are soooo good! i didn't have any nuts, so i added some dried cranberries. i accidently added a half tsp of cinnamon, but it wasn't a problem. might add a touch more next time. i was a tad disappointed that they didn't get a big muffin top on them, but i'm over it! LOL Really really tasty muffins. thanks for sharing AAMMEGAN!

Marina! i love love love this bread. i can't stop making it. LOL it's sooooo easy and comes out awesome each and every time. it makes great panini too! oh and i love one of the reviewers "mistakes" where she forgot to take the bread out of the machine to let it rest, and ended up letting it rest in the machine! one less messy step! Thanks for a great recipe Marina :)

Zucchini Patties

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2011
i got my zucchini all prepped and realized i didn't have any onions left or flour!!!! WHAT??? i just left the onion out, and used potato flakes to replace the flour. these are soooo good. i couldn't stop eating them. they're real, hot, right out of the pan, but soooooo much better at room temp. gonna have to double the recipe next time. Thanks for sharing Sherlie :)

Apple Sheet Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2010
i was very excited about this recipe. i had high hopes, only to be sorely disappointed :( first of all, the "cake" part was more like a pie crust. i don't do pie crust. i added sugar and cin to the crust as did some other reviewers. the filling was lovely, but wasted between a really bad crust. i will ask on the exchange if anyone can figure out what went so wrong with this recipe and maybe give it another try.

These muffins are INCREDIBLE! I didn't have any nuts and I used dried cranberries. I also added one and a half tsp. of apple pie spice. one tsp. would have done the job. these muffins are very moist which almost puts them on the rich scale. YUM, oh and the streusel topping? THE BOMB! thanks so much shorecook for sharing your wonderful recipe :)

Pasta e Fagioli ala Weeble

You may want to start the recipe by eliminating the olive oil and render the fat from the bacon in the pot, then add the onions to the bacon and rendered fat. Either way, it's deeelicious! hope you enjoy:)

Jan's Buckeye Stuffed Cupcakes

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2012
wow! these were awesome. so moist, even the next day:) the brewed coffee really adds to the flavour and colour of these dark little nuggets of heaven! and the peanut butter filling is perfect. not to sweet, and not to peanut buttery. a lovely balance. i followed the recipe as written, although, out of habit i mixed all dry ingredients first, then mixed all wet ingredients together in my 4c. measure, then incorporated with the dry. i didn't have a regular size muffin tin, so i used my 24 count mini muffin tins. i ended up with 72 mini cupcakes. i only had enough peanut butter filling for 48, but the cupcakes with the chocolate glaze are soooo good on their own as well. oh, speaking of the glaze. YUM! so easy, so tasty. i was only left with four unglazed. they quickly disappeared nonetheless. loved the texture and crumb. next time, and there will be a next time, i'll try doing a cake and a tray of mini cupcakes. :) thanks for sharing a wonderful and yummy recipe :)
