I baked this recipe in the oven as suggested. The sauce thickened beautifully and the flavors melded into a rich delicious meal! A new favorite!

It's Chili by George!!

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2010
Outstanding! I used one 14.5 oz can of fire roasted tomatoes, one 14.5 oz can of fire roasted tomatoes with garlic, and one 14.5 oz can of diced tomatoes with jalapenos instead of the tomato juice. The jalapenos kicked up the spice nicely and the fire roasted tomatoes gave it a smoky flavor that made it taste like I had simmered it for longer than an hour and a half. A great recipe to work from and just enough room to personalize for one's specific tastes. Well done George!

Wonderful recipe. I melted the butter and put it into a spray bottle and it really streamlined the process. Definitely the best baklava I've ever had.

Lentils with Tomatoes

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2010
Great hearty meal. I added mushrooms and only used one cup of tomatoes so I found that the lentils were not in enough liquid to simmer for the 30 minutes. I added 1 cup chicken broth, cumin, and a little cayenne pepper and chili powder for a kick and continued the simmer process. The cumin really made the dish for me and accented all of the flavors well.

Mandarin Orange Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2010
This recipe has great potential and an impressive presentation but was much too sweet for my taste. I cubed the chicken then sauteed it and added some broccoli at the end cooking until tender crisp and set them aside. I then made the sauce but left out the mandarin oranges until just before serving and added some garlic and red pepper flakes. After the sauce melded I gave it a taste and realized that it was too sweet. I added several tablespoons of chili garlic sauce to add some heat in hopes that it would tone down the sweetness. It certainly helped and my husband and I both ate it however I don't think that this is a meal that I will make again.

Delicious! I used thighs and followed the suggestions to use foil for the first 30 minutes then remove and baste for the remainder of the time. I also used the suggestion to half the butter and add cayenne pepper and garlic. It turned out wonderful. I will definitely be making this again!

French Baguettes

I used my kitchenaid. I subbed some whole wheat flour for a heartier taste. Used it the first day for some brie and the next day I made french toast with it. It went well with both sweet and savory flavors.

Moroccan Meat Cigars

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2010
I made a spicy moroccan inspired dipping sauce with the remaining crushed tomatoes. I used 1/2 cup crushed tomatoes, 2 tablespoon plain yogurt, 1 clove garlic, 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin, 1/2 teaspoon ground coriander, 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper, 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice, Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. I put it all in the food processor until smooth. It went very well with the meal. I also added onions and garlic to the meat as someone suggested and used butter instead of oil to coat the tops of the cigars. Served with saffron rice, this meal was satisfying and impressive.
