Barley Lime Fiesta Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2011
I didn't have the beans, but I loved a new recipe to use barley in. I too used honey, and only half of it, instead of the corn syrup. I doubled the dressing. It's really easy to throw in other veggies, or maybe some kalamata olives, too.

Deviled Eggs

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2011
Very good, but too salty when made as directed. I'm going to try it without salt next time and just add as needed.

Kathy's Delicious Whole Slow Cooker Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2010
We followed another reviewer's suggestion to double the liquid, but that was too much for my slow cooker. I recommend starting with the beginning measurements. We stuffed a chopped up onion and the garlic under the skin.

Baked Teriyaki Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2010
Husband and child loved it... but not on rice. I made it with almost the full amount of sugar. I'll cut it down next time. Where we live, restaurants often add green onion cut up in the sauce. It's really good, so I'll try that next time as well.

I added cilantro, lime juice and avocado to the finished recipe. Very good!

Garlic Bread Fantastique

Reviewed: May 17, 2011
So easy, but the bottom of the bread was too soft. I think next time I'll cook it at a lower temp and for longer before broiling.

Garden Veggie Pizza Squares

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2010
I would definitely recommend adding the dressing to taste. I use less than a packet with Hidden Valley, but another organic brand, I have to use the whole packet for the same taste. I also prefer to make my own pizza crust, but that's just a matter of personal choice.

Mimi's Giant Whole-Wheat Banana-Strawberry Muffins

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2008
I cut the strawberries into chunks. I sprayed the pans, but I had a problem with the strawberries sticking to sides of the muffin tins. I guess paper would have worked a little better. It went over well at the parents' group I took it too. Everyone liked the alternative to cookies.

Easy and Fun Peanut Butter Balls

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2008
I made it without the dry milk. I thought it was good. I added some crushed pretzles and that was good.

Dill, Feta and Garlic Cream Cheese Spread

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2008
Be prepared for the garlic. I love garlic, but I halved it and still found it strong. I'll make it again. I usually have the stuff to make it on hand.

Chicken Vegetable Barley Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2008
I followed another reviewers lead and added parmesan when I served it. Yummy! I think next time I'll add some white wine at some point to the recipe. I would call this a refrigerator door recipe. It was a nice way to use up any veggies that were about to go bad.

Roasted Root Vegetables With Apple Juice

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2008
I did not care for the recipe, my husband thought it was edible. I had no problem reducing the wine and apple juice mixture. It's nice to see this variety of veggies used, but I think I would just go with plain olive oil, rosemary and a little salt. I'm going to use the veggies in a soup tommorrow.

Sweet and Sour Chicken I

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2010
The sauce was too sweet for my liking and I actually used less sugar. It makes a lot of sauce!

Strawberry Oatmeal Breakfast Smoothie

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2008
I'm not vegan, so I used organic skim milk. Very good. I followed another reviewer's advice and put the oatmeal in the blender for a bit first. I also added some chocolate protein powder and used it as a post-race smoothie.

Microwave Apple Crisp

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2008
I made it with two Fuji apples and in a Pyrex like another reviewer. I used the recipe scaling feature to reduce the recipe. I reduced the butter by 1 T. and cooked it for 10 minutes. The top crust was dry, but overall the recipe was good. Very, very sweet.

Roasted Chickpeas

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2008
I wasn't able to get a consistent texture. Some of them were dry all the way through, but some were still chewy in the middle. Not very tasty.

Restaurant-Style Taco Meat Seasoning

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2008
I made it vegetarian and omitted the beef and beef boullion. I also added a couple cloves of garlic and some onion as another reviewer mentioned. In place of beef, I used TVP (Textured Vegetable Protein). I'll use turkey next time.

Tortillas I

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2008
It worked okay. I did half whole wheat, half unbleached all-purpose flour. The whole wheat made it harder to work with, but my husband liked it.

Roasted Beets with Feta

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2007
Love it. My husband says it's the best vegetable recipe he's had in a while. I did not have shallots, but next time I will add them. There will be a next time!
