About this Cook
I love food. I love to eat it, and also to cook it. I'm very suprised that I am not fatter than I am.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook anything with fresh ingredients. I like to try to duplicate things I ate in great restaurants. I like to make food for my family each night - a challenge as my wife is vegetarian - I lean towards the carnivorous side.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom's hamburgers, thanksgiving meals. My wife's mom's ribs. My dad's crabcakes and pig roast. My Dad's mom's pasta, sauce, and meatballs. My Mom's mom's chiken and dumplings and apple pie. My wife's paprikash.
My cooking triumphs
I once made this lasagna that almost blew my mind. It was seriously awesome. Just 'cause it's easy doesn't mean it has to be average.
My cooking tragedies
Too many to count, but that's what happens when you are teaching yourself, right?

Taiwanese Fried Tofu
I thought this was great - I made it exactly as described and it turned out very well!

Spinach Lentil Soup
Very good! Hearty! I added some cumin, celery, and more broth to water as some other reviewers suggested. My wife is a vegetarian, so I used "better than chicken" brand broth, and didn't cook the kielbasa in the stew, but added it to mine after. Really tasty!

Carrot Thyme Bread
Bread came out really dense - don't know what happened. The taste was pretty savory, but I didn't care for this flavor all that much.
