Vegan Pancakes

Ok when you're out of milk...not much like regular pancakes though! I added 1/2 or so peach yogourt and the consistency was much better.

Hawaiian Chicken Kabobs

I skipped the kabobs and did this as stir fry over rice. Added green peppers and mushrooms. Thickened it a bit with cornstarch at the end. Delicious!

Jenn's Out Of This World Spaghetti and Meatballs

Made meatballs but not sauce. Added some uncooked ground pork I had left over from another recipe, no parmesan cheese. Turned out great, had never cooked meatballs in sauce before but they turned out awesome. Grown ups liked them better than the kids though.

Cowboy Oatmeal Cookies

Added 1/2 c chocolate chunks, good but a bit thick for me, I like the thinner oatmeal cookies. Worked well for what I had on hand though.

Honey Mustard Grilled Chicken

Made with regular mustard instead of dijon, no steak sauce, added cumin. Dipped chicken in this then breaded in bread crumbs. Crumbs were a bit heavy, next time panko crumbs.

Janet's Rich Banana Bread

I made mini muffins and adjusted the bake time - 15 mins at 325 seemed about right. Left out the walnuts and topped each with a sliced banana dipped in brown sugar. Kids loved 'em, construction workers loved 'em, nice texture and taste. Thanks Janet!

The Greatest Grilled Turkey

I have never done a turkey on the bbq before but with a huge family gathering this Thanksgiving, room in the oven was pretty scarce! It took about an hour longer than forcast, but my turkey may not have been completely thawed. It was moist and beautiful, I stuffed it with chopped apples and wove a bacon mat to put on top. Thanks for sharing your recipe!

Lemon Butter

Orange Rice Cake

My favourite! Very similar to something I tried in Bologna, Italy. I leave out the raisins and use lemon zest instead of orange, and serve it with Lemon Butter from this site. Thank you Lois!

White Layer Cake

I doubled this and followed it to the letter for my daughter's four layer birthday cake this year, and dyed two layers pink and two layers purple. It turned out perfectly! Great recipe!

Fish Tacos

So good! Out of lime juice, used lemon, skipped jalapeno and capers. Out of cabbage, used spinach. Still delicious even with the substitutions! Kids loved the white sauce. Pre-chill batter in fridge. When cooking, remove fish from frying pan to wire rack over cookie sheet in oven to keep crisp. Next time make fresh Pico de Gallo to go with, and use lime if possible, and a bit more cumin.

Chewy Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies

I used some recommendations from reviews: 1 3/4 c. flour, 1 tsp. bk. soda, no salt. I omitted the nuts and used half butter and half shortening. I baked at 335 for 12 minutes. They turned out perfectly thick and chewy, not dry at all! I chilled the dough for the first few trays but left the bowl on the counter after that, didn't seem to make a difference for me, no spreading problems either way. I doubled the recipe and it was a bit hard to mix by hand but not too bad, the doubled recip/e fit in my big mixing bowl. Made again 8/16/11 with all butter, turned out great!

Rice Casserole

I used broccoli in place of the green onion. Taste was ok but the sour cream and milk made it a weird "curdled" texture for me. Next time will sub softened cream cheese for milk & s. cream?

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Ham Tetrazzini

I used broccoli instead of parsley and pimento peppers, and no onion. Served over rice instead of noodles. Husband and kids devoured it! So easy, and saved my bacon on one of those "Aaahh, it's 4:30pm and I still haven't figured out dinner!" nights. Thank you Susan!
