Superbowl Sausage Snacks

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2014
Wonderful as is but you can tweak it by adding chopped green onions and sub some ground beef for some of the sausage. Pumpernickel is best but dark rye will do in a pinch. Everybody loves these and they freeze well, before baking of course.

Healthier Baked Ziti I

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2014
Excellent results! I substituted non fat cottage cheese for the sour cream and used 1-1/2 jars of sauce. I will add sliced mushrooms next time.

Got Kudos for this pie! Read other reviewer posts.. 1/4 less sugar and combined some brown in the mix. I added more pecans and combined chopped with whole. Very rich.

Irish Soda Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2013
Wonderful recipe. Recommendations: Use 3 full cups raisins, 65 minutes at 350 conv oven. Didn't have caraway seed. Suggest dusting with sugar instead of flour. Used a 9" cake pan - puffed up well.

Broccoli Beef I

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2013
Very bland, even though I added more garlic, ginger, onions, pepper flakes and black pepper. I used cornstarch instead of flour and won't do that again. The cornstarch breaks down when you 'simmer' too long and the sauce gets too runny.

Caramel Popcorn

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2012
Perfect recipe. After an hour the popcorn still wasn't crunchy enough so added 15 min at 275.

Grilled Cheese with Tomato, Peppers and Basil

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2012
Yum. Only change would be in prep. I butter one side of each slice then turn the bread over and add cheese, etc., so both sides of the bread are toasted. The spray ' I can't believe it's not butter' is perfect for this task. Put a lid on the pan at the end to finish/melt the cheese.

Triple Berry Crisp

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2012
Excellent and exactly what I was looking for...crunchy oat topping..I read a lot of the other reviews and only made a couple changes to my taste..although the original I'm sure is scrumptious :) I used 1 cup of butter, melted first and added to the other dry ingredients. I also did not toss the berries with sugar initially. There is enough sweetness in the crumble mixture. I used combo blue/black/rasp and baked 40 min. Yum Yum. Definitely making again..

Cola Sauerkraut

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2012
Very very good. Brought to a neighborhood bbq with grilled hot dogs and everybody loved. I'm not even a sauerkraut fan and I liked it too.I read through other reviews first. I used only 1/2 the butter called for, used diet pepsi and threw in some fennel seeds and a splash of balsamic vinegar. Make sure you drain and rinse the the sauerkraut.

Baked Fresh Cherry Pie

Reviewed: May 28, 2012
No changes here. Another way to get cherry pits out is to use a chop stick with a straw. Cut off a few inches of straw and place on end of chopstick. push, twist and there ya go...

Homemade Wonton Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2012
These were excellent. Makes a lot of wontons. I froze the leftovers as suggested..wax paper..then put in zip lock bag. I chopped up some water chestnuts for the filling and added extra plus frozen peas to the broth. I too boiled the wontons in water first then added the amount I wanted, to the simmering broth.

Cake Mix Cookies IV

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2012
This is the 2nd time I've made these. The first time I was disappointed because they didn't taste like 'cookies'. The 2nd time, I pressed down on them with a spatula and the texture was great! I used yellow cake mix, lots of chocolate chips, some pecan chips.

Whole Wheat Chicken Salad Sandwiches

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2012
I make my chicken pita sandwiches like this always. I usually use more yogurt than n/f mayo. A little curry powder and some diced apples or grapes added is nice too.

Yummy recipe. I stuff the chicken salad in a toasted pita. I line the pita pockets with shredded lettuce first. I also use mostly n/f yogurt and just a T of mayo.

Rye Bread Party Pizzas

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2011
Great party/holiday appetizer. Try adding some sliced green onions to the meat/cheese mixture while cooking. These also freeze well and reheat good in the oven at 350 for about 10-15 min.

This is my 'go-to' rub recipe however I like to add ground coffee, but don't use salt in the rub cause the bbq sauce has enough!

Baked Kale Chips

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2011
These were really good. BEWARE TOO MUCH SALT. I used only a dash but because the kale shrinks up in the oven, it becomes very concentrated. Watch the end time of cooking. I look forward to trying this again with VERY LITTLE salt and/or different seasonings!
