About this Cook
Having people over to eat good food and have good conversation is sublime.
My favorite things to cook
Soup has been a main thing I've been trying out, ever since I realized a few years ago that soup has a purpose beyond a can of chicken noodle when sick! I also like baking German cakes when I have the time, and I love making salad with fun new ingredients.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Around New Year's, my family gets together to make tamales. My mom's macaroni and cheese is always a hit and my dad makes incredible cookies that he's known for. Sometimes I help, usually I just enjoy. =)
My cooking triumphs
Nothing too fancy -- I used to make amazing scones but I forget how I did it! I once made some great potstickers and chicken lettuce wraps from scratch... Basically, I tend towards simpler, wholesome foods that everyone enjoys, collecting recipes and trying my own versions of foods I've eaten other places.
My cooking tragedies
In college, I once tried making Gazpacho soup... I had never had it before and nobody really liked it! A few spoonfuls was fine but a whole bowl of it was like a V8 overdose, though chunkier!

Light and Creamy Brown Sugar and Chocolate Frosting
Quick and easy; tastes like mousse. Light, but rich. I would suggest tripling the recipe for most cakes, if not more, and possibly adding more vanilla. Completely smooth, which surprised me (because of the brown sugar). I'll probably use it again on account of how easy it was and because I often have whipping cream on hand. However, it isn't the best recipe out there; I prefer one with butter.

Cha Cha's White Chicken Chili
I made this when my church was serving dinner to a parent support group -- everyone brought their own variety of chili. This was the one families kept coming back for and requesting! I reduced the amount of jalepenos... a real keeper, I need to make this again soon!

Soft Peanut Butter Cookies
When I lived in Germany, my peanut-butter-starved American and British friends LOVED when I made these cookies. They never lasted long and are so easy to make, yet delicious. You really won't need another recipe after this one! Even my German friends who claimed to dislike peanut butter loved these.
