Kabob Marinade

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2011
There are a lot of ingrediants in exchange for little flavor. The taste was "fine" but I didn't think it was all that flavorful. I might add a little cumin or cayenne pepper if I were to use again.

Chuck's Favorite Mac and Cheese

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2011
The cottage cheese texture takes some getting use to, but I tell myself that it compensates for even more cheese which would really load on the fat. I skip the breadcrumbs because the one tried I tried it, I wasn't a fan so I now sprinkle some real bacon bits (not the jarred stuff). Good recipe for when you are feeling in the mood to eat bad. :)

Texas Caviar I

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2011
Great recipe. I couldn't find canned black eyed peas so I used a 2nd can of black beans. I also added a can of corn for color and crunch. The fresh cilantro makes this recipe so fresh and tasty. It makes a ton so I used the leftovers for dinner the next night in a tortilla with chicken. Perfect.

Chicken Stir-Fry

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2011
Really did not care for this. I followed the instructions to the T and it turned out to be a goopy mess. I think it was the cornstarch, but even without that I don't think the flavor was all that good. Because we used fresh vegetables we ate it with a lot of chow mein noodles and soy sauce. Continuing my quest for a good stir-fry recipe.

Italian Spaghetti Sauce with Meatballs

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2011
I am a Italian food freak, especially when it comes to spaghetti. I really loved this recipe. I simmered the sauce all day which really helped to break up the whole tomatos. I may use diced in the future, but using whole makes it taste a little more authentic. I also baked the meatballs until they were half cooked. I just could not get myself to cook them in the sauce. Cooking them half in the oven and finishing them in the sauce worked great for me.

Breakfast Loaf

I was hesitant to make this, but it turned out great! It was really easy and I assembled the night before. It's definitely great for a crowd and the combinations are endless.

Rempel Family Meatloaf

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2010
I've tried a lot of meatloafs and this is my favorite so far. My only complaint was that the onion soup mix was a little overpowering. I may not use the whole pouch next time.

Artichoke & Spinach Dip Restaurant Style

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2010
I've made this twice in the last few weeks and its gotten luke warm reception both times. It's very bland tasting and the spinach may be too overpowering. I won't make again.

Manicotti Alla Romana

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2009
The outcome of this dish is well worth the effort. It's not hard, but just a lot of steps. I followed one reviewer's tip about slicing the noodle in half to fill and then placing seam-side down. A huge time saver and not so messy. Just an excellent homemade meal.

Slow-Cooker Chicken Tortilla Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2009
The good thing about this recipe is that it's relatively healthy. The bad part is that it's a really strange tasting chicken tortilla soup. It seems to be missing something in the flavor department.

Baked Ziti I

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2009
This is easy to make, but man does it taste rich! Very filling. It would be great as a meal served for guests and it does make a lot. We are a family of 3 so we'll have lots of leftovers. Tastes like lasagna, but faster to make. I used sausage instead of beef and it was great.

Spinach Quiche

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2008
Made the recipe exactly as written and was very happy with the results. It was very rich and was more of a dinner meal then breakfast. In the future I'll scale back the butter to make it a bit more healthy.

Baked French Toast

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2008
I made this as the recipe instructs and was disappointed with the end result. It tasted good, but the bottom of the pan can only be described as being similar to flan. I guess I will scale back the liquid and perhaps flip the bread half way through baking to avoid this. I will say that the prep was super easy so if you can get the mixture right it would be worth the high rating.

Burrito Pie

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2008
I took the advice of someone and halved the recipe since it's just two of us. I used a 1 lb of beef and mixed in taco seasoning as directed on the pkg. Layered as instructed but put the beans on the tortillas to make it easier. I didn't add the taco sauce and it was good without it, but will add next time to give it an extra zing. Really an easy recipe that gives an old standby a new look. Thanks!

Baked Brie in Puff Pastry

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2008
This was a hit. I sliced horizontally and added blackberry seedless preserves and sliced almonds. As others have mentioned I used crescent roll dough and created a heart shape with the extras and placed on top since this was for an anniversary dinner. So good, easy and everyone thought it was great!

Too Much Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2008
I made exactly as directed and it turned out great. I love how the chocolate chips in the cake kept their shape. I added the "Satiny glaze" as others had mentioned and it really added a pretty visual finish to the cake. I decorated with strawberrys and sprinkled with powered sugar. Lots of compliments.

French Toast II

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2007
This is a pretty good recipe. Simple and basic. I found this recipe when I realized I didn't have any breakfast food in the house. I cut the serving in half and it was more then enough for 2 adults. I followed the instructions, but added a little bit of vanilla extract and just a shake of nutmeg since my feeling is that it can be too overpowering. You could really spruce this recipe up with french bread or top with berries. I'd definitely make again.

Lana's Sweet and Sour Meatballs

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2007
The sauce was great and very easy to make. I took the advice of others and bought meatballs to avoid the step of making them homemade. I would definitely recommend this. The recipe for the meatballs didn't seem too extraordinary so I figured I wouldn't be missing anything. This also allowed for cutting down the meatballs to around 25 which I felt was a perfect ratio to the sauce. I used a green and yellow pepper and purple onion, but next time I'll use other vegtables like carrot, peapods and celery since my husband does not eat peppers or onions. The best thing about this recipe is that you can really use veggies of your liking and still have a great meal.

Quick and Easy Chicken Noodle Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2007
I recently made this again and used rotiserre chicken for its flavor- HUGE improvement. I also sauteed the vegetables with butter and garlic and everything tasted great. Definitely will be a standard recipe in my family. The only negative is that egg noodles really lose their firmness after a few days, but I don't think that can be helped unless you use a firmer noodle.

Easy Tuna Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2007
I tried this recipe using the tips others suggested and agreed with one reviewer who thought it was too much tuna. I am one who prefers tuna in low dosages so next time I will use 9 oz. vesus 12 and blend the cheese with the mixture. I would also use egg noodles, for some reason macaroni doesn't go with tuna casserole.
