Easy Cheese Ball II

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2007
Easy and pleasing. I did find that the taste of the cheese ball was better the second day for some reason - I am thinking because the ranch mix had time to flavor the cheese nicely and didn't taste gritty. The recipe was huge so I made two balls, rolling one in slivered almonds and one in chopped green onions. Yum!

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: May 25, 2007
Fantastic recipe! I used three bananas and only 1/2 c. brown sugar to balance out the sweetness. As other reviews suggested, I added vanilla and cinnamon for flavor. I did not make bread, instead I made muffins and they turned out perfectly. The second batch I made I added fresh blueberries and WOW they were goooood!

Amish Friendship Bread Starter

Reviewed: May 30, 2007
Great starter! I just made some and took it out of the oven. Yum! I used a recipe that a friend gave me that uses vanilla pudding. I did a big OOPS and used a metal whisk, but as soon as I realized what I was doing I removed the metal whisk and used a bamboo spoon. The bread still turned out fantastic! Also, I was away for two days over the weekend and just left the starter at room temp during days 6 & 7 and then picked up where I left off when I got back from vacation. No problems seemed to arise from being gone.

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2008
This recipe is great. I did not change anything or make any substitutions. The second time I used this recipe I did not melt the butter and still ended up with a fantastic cookie. Thanks!

Amish Friendship Bread II

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2007
This recipe is pretty darn good! Used Butterscotch pudding and butterscotch chips...mmm, mmm good! I also did not bake the bread as long and it was perfectly moist, not too dry. :)

Cake Mix Cookies VIII

Reviewed: May 9, 2010
Very easy and moist. I also added the extra oil and the cookies turned out perfectly. The options are many as far as add-ins (nuts, cranberries, raisins etc with different cake mixes). This recipe is a keeper.

Cookie Balls

Reviewed: May 9, 2010
Easy and delicious! The second batch that I made I used lemon cookies and added a bit of grated lemon peel for some zest. Yum, yum! Some other cookies that are good are Grasshopper cookies (chocolate mint cookies), gingerbread cookies, or even chocolate chip cookies. If you use shortbread cookies or a plain vanilla cookie you can add some raspberry jam to the mixture for a more elegant cookie ball. Another good idea with vanilla cookies is to add peanut butter and chopped nuts as well. Endless possibilities!

Black Bean and Couscous Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2007
Fantastic fail-proof recipe! This was just so easy to make, and the taste was perfect. The second time around I added some chili powder and it was great. We used it to wrap in corn tortillas and also with chips. Absolutely wonderful! SAVE!!!

Beth's Spicy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2007
Great recipe! The only substitution I made was pumpkin spice in place of cinnamon (because I did not have any) and still turned out mouth-watering delicious. Per other's suggestions I only baked for 8-9 minutes so that the cookies stayed chewy, avoiding "puck-cookies". Yummalicious : ) Two thumbs up!

Light Wheat Rolls

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2007
Wow, wow, wow!! These rolls came out perfectly - and so easy. I followed the directions exactly for preparing and baking. I did end up using more whole wheat flour and less all-purpose flour, and used HONEY in place of the sugar, which I think always tastes better in bread or rolls. Fantastic recipe - this is a keeper and I will use it often.

No-Fuss Pumpkin Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2007
Oh geez, you just can't go wrong with this recipe. The only thing I added was pumpkin spice and it turned out fantastic! 10/2009 UPDATE: If you add about 1/2 cup more pumpkin the cake turns out really, really moist. Spice cake works fabulously - just leave out the spice.

Quick and Almost-Professional Buttercream Icing

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2009
This recipe is the best basic sugar cookie recipe there is. Make sure that you use PURE vanilla extract for a great tasting cookie. Almond extract and coconut extract are also very delicious, too!

Aunt Teen's Creamy Chocolate Fudge

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2007
This recipe is wonderful and easy! I used equal amounts of milk & dark chocolate, only because that is what I had, and it still turned out a hit! I was worried because I was not sure if the marshmallow, milk, sugar, butter mixture was a full boil. I only saw small bubbling, but I interpreted that as boil and continued to stir for about 7 minutes and decided to go for it. I topped my fudge with white chocolate chips that were green striped and red striped for a more Christmassy look. Everyone loved them and asked for the recipe!

Extreme Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2010
**THIS IS A VERY RUNNY BATTER** but it's great! I followed the directions exactly and I had a perfectly baked chocolate cake. I baked a 9x13 for 35 minutes and the cake came out fluffy and moist. Make sure you sift your cocoa (for those who don't bake much...this is a must). I only made 1/2 the amount of frosting and that was plenty. Great basic recipe that I will be making over and over. Thanks!

Easy Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2007
There really isn't anything that I can suggest to make this recipe any better or easier. My cookies turned out perfect - no complaints here. The only thing I may have done differently is that I rolled the dough a little thicker because I like my cookies thick and chewy. This recipe is a keeper.

Bella's Rosemary Red Potatoes

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2007
I have used this recipe so many times over the years. I do find that fresh rosemary is best, but is strong and needs a little less than the recipe asks for. Dried rosemary works just as great, too. I use more EVOO (extra virgin olive oil) than butter and chop my potatoes in smaller, bite-sized cubes for faster cooking.

Strawberry Butter

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2009
AMAZING! My variations: 3 tablespoons powdered sugar, 3 tablespoons raspberry jam. Also used strawberry jam (or preserves) and apricot (YUM!). Everyone who has tried it raves about it. My favorite way to use this is on fresh baked bread or rolls.

I have made these several times. the original recipe is a five star recipe. I have also substituted applesauce for the oil or use coconut oil (my personal favorite) and still loved them.

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2008
Changes: used 1/4 c. brown sugar. Half cup was too sweet, although we still gobbled it up with no problem. I also used 1/2 cup milk instead of 3/4 cup. I added some Cracked Peppercorn A-1 sauce for fun as well. Even with my slight changes I still give this recipe five stars because it was really amazing and we really enjoyed how moist and delicious it turned out. This really is the best recipe I have used so far and I will be making this many times.
