Spanish Rice II

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2007
Muy bien! The rice turned out great for me. I didn't have chilies or canned tomatoes so I used 1 cup of salsa and it was fabulous! I also cooked this in my rice cooker (no tending needed). Perfect! I will most certainly be making this many times...

Deep Dish Brownies

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2007
These are pretty good. I baked them a little too long so they came out cakey, but they were still delicious. Next time I will time them better (20 minutes instead of 30).

Home-Fried Potatoes

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2007
We really enjoyed this recipe. I added minced garlic and sauteed with the onions which gave the potatoes a nice flavor. I put as many green peppers to my liking since other reviewers mentioned that there may have been too many. This recipe is easy to adjust to any cooks' liking. Thanks!

Herbed Rice Pilaf

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2007
I have a fabulous rice cooker (everyone should invest in one) so when I saw this recipe I was too excited to make it! Yes, of course I made only a couple of changes, and that is that I didn't have Worcestershire sauce, and I used vegetable broth. Added carrot shreds, used celery seed instead of celery, omitted the butter. Perfect rice! Extremely tasty, makes the best side dish for fish and chicken. I definitely will do this again in the rice cooker. Only takes 20 minutes! Thanks!

Amish Friendship Bread II

This recipe is pretty darn good! Used Butterscotch pudding and butterscotch chips...mmm, mmm good! I also did not bake the bread as long and it was perfectly moist, not too dry. :)

Martha's Vegetable Beef Soup

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2007
Good basic soup. Quick, easy and tasty. I didn't have stewed tomatoes so instead I used two cans of tomato sauce. As others users suggested, I used beef broth and cooked the ground beef with onions and garlic for extra flavor. We loved it and I will definitely make it often.

Easy Garlic Broiled Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2007
Not a bad recipe by any means. I only used 1/4 c. butter, added a dash of ginger powder and some sesame oil to boost the flavor. Great taste, will do again.

Broiled Tilapia Parmesan

Reviewed: May 31, 2007
Ok, if this wasn't the easiest, cheesiest, tastiest fish I have ever made. Superb!! I did add garlic powder instead of onion powder. I also added 1/4 c. Italian seasoned bread crumbs as other users suggested. Perfect! Can give this more than five stars? :)

Amish Friendship Bread Starter

Reviewed: May 30, 2007
Great starter! I just made some and took it out of the oven. Yum! I used a recipe that a friend gave me that uses vanilla pudding. I did a big OOPS and used a metal whisk, but as soon as I realized what I was doing I removed the metal whisk and used a bamboo spoon. The bread still turned out fantastic! Also, I was away for two days over the weekend and just left the starter at room temp during days 6 & 7 and then picked up where I left off when I got back from vacation. No problems seemed to arise from being gone.

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: May 25, 2007
Fantastic recipe! I used three bananas and only 1/2 c. brown sugar to balance out the sweetness. As other reviews suggested, I added vanilla and cinnamon for flavor. I did not make bread, instead I made muffins and they turned out perfectly. The second batch I made I added fresh blueberries and WOW they were goooood!

Cube Steak Parmesan

Reviewed: May 22, 2007
This is a fantastic recipe. I recommend using your own favorite sauce (bottled or homemade) because then the taste is just the way you want it. I used my homemade chunky tomato sauce - and I love my sauce so I knew I would love the dish! FANTASTIC!

Country Fried Steak and Milk Gravy

The only modification that I made was to the flour mixture, which I added garlic powder and pepper and some salt. It was more tasty that way...Great recipe! It was easy, fast and delicious. Fantastic, thank you!

Healthy Banana Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2007
Delicious and nutritious! I added pumpkin pie spice and some cinnamon which spiced the cookie nicely. I didn't have dates, and instead I used dried cranberries (yum, yum). To top it all off I thought that diced apple pieces would work great and boy, oh boy, did that make all the difference. My new favorite GUILT FREE cookie!!!

Amish White Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2007
FIVE STARS! Yes, this recipe is easy and comes out perfectly. I used half the dough for one loaf of bread and the other half to make cinnamon rolls, which turned out the best I have ever made. Follow the recipe exactly and you'll have perfect white bread. I will never try another recipe for white bread again. I found the winner!

Crazy Crust Pizza Dough

This is definitely more like flat bread, but it was still very good. I used 1 c. whole wheat flour and 1/2 c. white flour, added garlic powder and Italian seasoning mix in the dough mixture. Great stuff!

Wonderful recipe! Modifications: 1/2 c. mayo (instead of 1 c.), 1/4 c. sugar (instead of 1/2 c.). I did not have raisins and used dried cranberries which colored the salad beautifully. This recipe is a keeper!

Fantastic recipe. I did not have beef bullion so I left that ingredient out, and the soup still tasted fantastic.
