About this Cook
I was born and raised in an Acadian/Scottish household. Food was a big part of our lives. My mother thought it important to teach me to cook at a young age, since she hadn't learned to cook until she got married. I always loved to experiment in the kitchen, too.
My favorite things to cook
Baked ziti, homemade apple pie, coffee cakes, beef and mushroom stroganoff, cabbage rolls, chicken or turkey with stuffing, Traditional Acadian Meat Pie (made with chunks of meat and traditional bannock bread, not ground meat) and the list goes on.
My favorite family cooking traditions
On the weekend, our family would entertain family and friends. My mother always put food out so that people could eat any time they were hungry. We would make homemade pizza, chili, cabbage rolls or chinese food and put out snacks. At Christmas, we always made Acadian meat pie (which we called Christmas meat pie or Pate). Blood pudding was a staple at Christmas also.

I think I'm the only person in history to burn poached eggs. Yes, the egg had black on it, don't ask me how.

Easy Tuna Casserole
Not bad! Used Mozza, cream of mushroom, peas and spices. Didn't have french fried onions. I'm French, so I fried my own in garlic butter(lol). Did need extra milk. Reviews helped. Yummy! Definitely make it again.

Homemade Mac and Cheese
Personally, I don't like cheddar. I used old white cheddar in this recipe and mixed with the parmesean, I thought the flavor was good. I got ahead of myself and added the milk quickly to the roux. I wonder if that's why the dish wasn't creamy. The cheese separated from the macaroni. I will try it again, this time without breadcrumbs and with some seasoning.

Turkey a la Matt
I was looking for a way to use up the leftover Xmas turkey. This definitely helped. I made adjustments also. I used two cans of cream of mushroom, green beans instead of peas, and sprinkled shredded mozzarella over the cream mixture just before I added crushed Ritz crackers. Loved it. Will make it again and again.
