Trail Blazer Barbecue Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2013
My first attempt at homemade BBQ sauce- what took me so long? Pretty darn tasty- only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because I had nothing to compare it to. I really like the texture that the blender gives, and it makes for a nice even flavor. Froze half of it and it tasted just as good after thawing as it did when I first made it. Used it to dress a southern pulled pork recipe from this site. Yum!

Mary's Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2009
very crumbly and hard to work with... had to re-roll four or five times to cut down on the cracking. They taste great with frosting, but if you're looking for a cookie to just decorate with colored granulated sugar, keep looking.

Jenn's Out Of This World Spaghetti and Meatballs

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2007
This is the perfect "standard" spaghetti and meatballs recipe - tastes exactly as you'd expect! Only gave it 4 stars because it lacked that "wow" factor for me, but I've made it a few times now because its so quick and easy, and soooooo much better than canned sauce with meatballs!

Chicken Cordon Bleu I

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2007
very easy and tasty! Took other reviewers' advice and dipped the rolled chicken breasts in egg before breading. Also upped the heat to 400 and baked for 30 mins to preserve the juices. Served with roasted garlic asparagus and roasted rosemary and garlic potatoes. Only gave it 4 stars because I had to make some adjustments (as well as make up some quick chicken gravy to top it with, as my boyfriend won't eat it unless there's gravy!)Thanks for the quick and easy dinner!

Creamy Peanut Butter Fudge

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2007
Made this recipe for a football tailgate this past weekend and got rave reviews! Two very important things to note: (1) depending on the pan size/temperature settings on your stove, boiling for 7 minutes may not get the fudge to the right temp, and if its not hot enough, it will be runny and goopy. The easiest way to guarantee that your fudge sets up correctly is to use a candy thermometer and heat it to soft ball stage (235-240 degrees). I recommend an instant-read digital thermometer - so easy to use. (2)For those who have a hard time finding marshmallow creme (or want to save some $$) 4 large marshmallows equals 1 oz of marshmallow creme, so about 30 large marshmallows should do the trick here. Best PB fudge I've had in a while, thanks for the recipe!

Slow-Cooker Chicken Tortilla Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2007
I've made this a few times now, it is a new staple in my house! I add the 15 oz size enchilada sauce, as I like it spicy, and cut the water a bit, but otherwise, perfect as written. I freeze them in small ziploc cups and they are PERFECT for taking in to work on a cold day, thanks!

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2007
finally, the choc chip recipe I was looking for... not too flat, not too puffy... maybe dissolving the baking soda in the water does the trick? I only give it 4 stars because I baked half of the cookies and froze the rest of the dough, and when I unfroze the dough later to bake more, they weren't quite as good. Next time I'll just bake it all, I'm sure I will have no problems getting rid of the tasty extras!

Grandma Minnie's Old Fashioned Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2007
almost exactly the same as my mom's, so naturally it gets 5 stars! Ran out of white flour so I used half a cup of whole wheat and they were still delicious. Melted butter/confectioner's sugar/vanilla/spash of milk makes a fantastic frosting for them!

Cornbread Muffins I

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2006
Definetly needs more milk than the recipe calls for - the recipe as written is very thick. Without the extra milk, they were a little dense. With the extra milk, they're moist and delicious! Cut the sugar to 1/2 though.... I have a sweet tooth so I didn't listen to the advice in the reviews, but they mean it... cut the sugar.

Washabinaros Chili

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2006
This recipe is unreal... SO DELICIOUS!! Used ground turkey and turkey sausage instead of beef, and Yuengling Lager for the beer. Takes awhile to make but it is totally worth the wait. My boyfriend liked it better than his Mom's chili (HUGE compliment, she is an AMAZING cook!) THANKS!

Split Pea Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2006
Fantastic soup, I will definetly make this again! Didn't have a ham bone lying around so I used cubed ham, still tasted fantastic. Also used chicken stock instead of water. Freezes great, I took some to work two weeks later and it was just as good as day 1. Thanks!

Lentil Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2006
I'm a huge fan of lentil soup, but this was a so-so recipe... not much flavor... tastes like chicken stock, tomatoes, and lentils. I suggest adding some more spice for flavor. Might taste better with beef stock... I will look for another lentil soup recipe
