Chile Pork

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2008
This was a superb meat dish. Great complex flavor and tastes very good over white rice. I marinated the meat for two days in the recommended spices, and coated the bottom of the pan with olive oil. As other reviewers have noted, it does not need to cook for 2 hours; I only cooked it for about 1 hour and 20 minutes, and it still came out moist. I will definitely cook this again.

Fast and Delicious Black Bean Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2008
This soup was very easy and very good. I substituted dried minced garlic for garlic; one red bell pepper for the green pepper; and used one can of refried beans and one can of black bean soup. It was great with cheddar cheese and cilantro on top (sour cream not necessary). If I made this again, I would use more cumin (1 tsp.) and tabasco sauce for more of a kick. Overall, very good.

Fast and Friendly Meatballs

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2008
Tasty and super easy. I used 7%-fat ground turkey, and added garlic salt, dried oregano, pepper, and parmesan cheese to the italian bread-crumb mixture.

Baked Chili

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2006
The ingredients were a good combination, and good amount of spice...a nice burn while going down, but not overwhelming. However, I found that baking chili turned the meat too dry, and there was hardly any liquid left. Felt more like a beef casserole than a true chili dish.

Best Ever Pie Crust

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2006
Chilled shortening and water before beginning. Found that I needed more like 7-8 tbsp. of cold water. Came out flaky - used with Apple Pie recipe.

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2006
Really a fantastic recipe and a fantastic pie! I had never made a pie before in my life, and I made this for a Thanksgiving Day celebration, and it received rave reviews. I used the "Best Ever Pie Crust" recipe at Allrecipes submitted by Jean Haseloh. I used six small granny smith apples, soaked in lemon juice and sugar, for freshness. I used a 9-inch glass pie dish , and added 1 tbsp. cinnamon, 1 tsbp. nutmeg, and 1 tbsp. of vanilla extract to the sauce. (I took out a tbsp. of the 1/2 cup water because of the vanilla.) For the crust, I cut a heart shape in the middle of the pie, and filled it with the leftover sauce, and cut a few slivers on the sides for cooling purposes. Thank you so much for the recipe -- it also works great with vanilla ice cream.

Awesome Grilled Cheese Sandwiches

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2006
A nice alternative to grilled cheese sandwiches on the stove. The bread comes out toastier and buttery, not all soggy like on the stovetop. Much like the grilled cheese sandwiches in high school. Yum.

Chili Rick's

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2006
Very, very good. I added three cloves of minced garlic, and 1/2 tsp. more italian seasoning than it called for. Need to serve with sour cream, as it is very hot! Only use 1 lb. of ground beef. 1/4 cup of chili powder was good, but makes it very spicy. Could be less. Only used 1/4 bottle of BBQ sauce.

Provincial Tomatoes

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2006
Overall, very good. Nice texture with the toasty bread crumbs and parmesan cheese. I also added a garlic and herb cheese spread to the top, before sprinkling on the parmesan/bread crumb mixture, and it added a really nice flavor.

Italian Sausage Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2006
Very good - hearty, full and bold taste, texture of carrots, beans and zucchini very pleasing! I served this to six friends, and they all raved. I served with focaccia bread to dip with. The only change I would recommend would be to add more beans and zucchini - 2 cans of beans, and 3 small zucchini. Other than that, very good!
