Spaghetti With Marinara Sauce

I truly believe that if you have the time--stick to a homemade marinara sauce. It is healthier for you than canned and when making it, your home smells delicious. This recipe is a classic guideline for a marinara sauce which you can easily fit to your taste. I followed almost exactly except followed advice from other reviewers regarding the following: omitted capers and added 1 chopped onion, blended crushed and diced tomatoes then added to the pot, added 2 bay leaves just because I wanted to and finally...threw it all in the crockpot for 4 hours on high. Easy as cake and came out great!

Caramel Apple Tart

Tastes great and makes the house smell wonderful. However, like stated before the caramels did not melt evenly. Also, the ready-to-bake pastry is too small to cut into a round shape. I will make it again but basically know I will have to wing it on the directions :-(

Baked Pork Chops I

These were fantastic! They were also delicious--not too time consuming and/or stressful. I know I can make these with ease for a quiet night with the hubby (who LOVED them) or a evening with my in-laws. Thanks for submitting!

Slow Cooker Cheesy Potatoes

Word to the wise: GENEROUSLY grease/butter your crockpot for this recipe. I sprayed mine down with PAM pretty well but obviously not enough because since then I have had to soak my crockpot 4 times before a scour pad could finally pick up the rest. I also gave it one star for taste. Having a quick recipe and/or more oven space is something we are all looking for and therefore we sometimes cut corners. For myself (my husband enjoyed the recipe), I felt like it tasted overly processed and that shouldn't be a surprise by viewing the ingredients--none which are fresh. Using fresher ingredients would of made this taste a lot better and I could of felt better about what I was putting in my body.

Glazed Lemon Bundt Cake

I would pay money for a slice of this cake if it were at the local coffeeshop...so delicious!. So like everyone else...didn't use the glaze for fear of it making the cake too moist. It already came out tasting perfect so why ruin a good thing? Did make a lemon icing though (1 cup conf. sugar, 3 tablespoons of lemon juice and if you really want some lemon add 1 teaspoon of lemon zest) Oh..one thing, like everyone else I had a heck of a time getting that thing out and onto a plate....the whole top was ruined-we obviously didn't care and quickly moved past that here at our house :-) but I mean, I buttered that baby up like no tomorrow and it still didn't come out.

White Cake Frosting I

Delicious! Like so many others, I did not have the powered butter so I followed suggestion to use 1/4 cup of unsalted butter at room temp and only 2/4 cups of shortening. Came out perfect. This recipe is a total keeper!

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies I

I usually never bake with shortening because I find it disgusting. However, after reading several reviews that substituting butter would make the cookie flatter, I decided to test out the shortening to see if I noticed a difference. The difference was amazing and I didn't notice the the taste of the shortening at all. I followed this one to the -T- and they came out DELICIOUS! Thanks so much for submitting

My Kid's Favorite Pork Chops

Not a big hit with me but the hubby absolutley loved it. While cooking, it made the whole house smell delicious so I was very hopeful. The meat did come out very tender but there was too much of an after taste of beer in the sauce. Maybe I should of not used Heineken? The beer also made the dish too sweet for my liking. I'm thinking this dish might be an aquired taste type of thing and looks like hubby loved it so much that next time, he will just have to give me the night off from cooking and whip it up for himself :-)

Banana Coconut Cream Pie

LOVED it & recommend a little more clarity on the cooking time for the new bakers. I started w/ toasting 1 cup coconut for 5-7 minutes in oven at 350. When combining ingredients together-turn temp to medium-high heat, and use a whisk. Add egg yolks slowly (whisking the entire time you add them). Then, bring heat down to medium heat and begin whisking constantly for about 5-7 minutes or until thick and bubbly 4.) Gently fold in butter, vanilla and roasted coconut. Allow to cool for 10 minutes. Wrap with plastic wrap (Custard sometimes has a top layer of film on it & plastic wrap will easily lift it) Let it cool for at least 3 hrs. Then top w/ whipped cream , 1/2 cup of additional roasted coconut & bananas.

Italian Breaded Pork Chops

This is a perfect recipe if you need to whip up something quick, easy and delicious. I didn't change one thing from it. PS: Many have commented on which to dipped the chops in first--the breading or the eggs. I tried both options and dipping in the egg worked out best for me. If you like them really breaded, having eggs on first will guarantee extra crunch. I love this recipe because I realized quickly, that I could either follow by heart or get really creative with it...(eg: homemade bread crumbs, different flavored breadcrumbs, shredded provolone or whichever cheese I feel like at the time etc...) and whichever way I choose-it will turn out great because it is so easy! Thanks so much---hubby has already requested to please please make again :-)

Baked Beans, Texas Ranger

So simple, so yummy and definitely Texan because it has got the heat in the dish that they love, love, love. If your not big on spicy...your still going to love it ;-) Just omit a little of the chili powder by a tablespoon or so and use beef sausage instead of spicy. Like others strongly suggested, I stuck with Bush Beans and it was great. PS: Thanks for submitting this because I needed something quick to wow the in-laws (all whom are Texas natives and proud of it) this 4th of July weekend and this recipe will be a huge hit :-)

Quick and Easy Peach Cobbler

This is a great recipe and it is so easy to make. I followed the suggestion to add cinn. and nutmeg to the flour mixture and also used the "fruit crispy topping" recipe from this site as a topping for the cobbler. They went great together. Thanks so much for submitting it!

Spaghetti Italian

This recipe is THE best! I had a similar experience as the last person who commented...my boyfriend walked in the door and said he could smell the sauce from outside our home and that it smelled fanstastic. I stayed completely true to the recipe except for a couple of things-which were only due to personal preference. I used 1 lb of ground beef instead of sausage and added half of a chopped white onion while seasoning beef. Also added 1/2 teaspoon of red pepper flakes that gave the sauce a small zing. We LOVED it and both agreed this recipe will be a staple in our home. Thank you so much for submitting this :-)

Sam's Famous Carrot Cake

I was hesitant to make this at first because I have never been a fan of carrot cake. However-this is truly the BEST I have ever tasted. I followed the recipe almost to the tee. I was feeling blah about adding the pinnaple-but the recipe asks for it to be crushed-which allowed it to not overpower the other ingredients. I was surprised how much I liked it. Also-I did not add raisins but only because I am not a raising type of woman. We made a homemade cream cheese icing (recipe is from this site as well-see Cream Cheese Frosting II). My boyfriend and I each had a slice (which there was dead silence for the first 3 bites because we both thought we had landed in heaven) and then he took the remaining to the office and it was gone in minutes. This recipe is a keeper!
