Vegan Black Bean Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2010
This soup with light on flavor - required lots of additional seasoning to make it edible. There is nothing wrong with it as a base, but there are much better receipes out there.

Classic Creamy Coleslaw

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2008
Super, super easy and excellent flavor. The coleslaw dressing I've been looking for. I won't make another gloppy cooked dressing ever again.

No-Cream Pasta Primavera

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2008
Very good recipe. I used what I had on hand: frozen hericots vert, frozen peas, frozen corn, a half a red pepper, half a yellow pepper and a whole pint of tomatos. I finished the dish off with about a tablespoon of butter because it needed a bit of fat. Otherwise, it was delish. Also was great cold as a pasta salad when I added some crumbled feta. This is a definate "keeper" recipe.

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2008
SOOOO yummy. This is a great soup that really warms you up in the winter. I make it often, usually adding some frozen corn to it (gotta sneak in those veggies whereever I can).

Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2008
I think these muffins are fair. The crumble topping is nice, but the muffin itself is lacking. Next time I might try adding some vanilla and maybe walnuts as others have suggested.

Ham Bone Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2006
We didn't like this soup at first bite (seemed kinda bland), but half a bowl in it had really grown on us. It did take all day in the crock pot to extract a decent amount of flavor from the ham bone, so that might have been part of the initial problem. All in all, a keeper recipe.

Best Hamburger Ever

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2006
Extremely herbie burger even when amount of herbs was halved. I won't bother to make them again.

Sweet Corn Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2006
Very nice cornbread recipe. I like mine on the sweet side, so I doubled the sugar as recommended my another reviewer. It was perfect. My only criticism was that the bread didn't look perfect. The recipe makes a very stiff batter and it didn't level itself out well. The result what a somewhat craggy looking bread. But it tasted so good that we really didn't care. :-)

Denise's Peanut Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2006
Really yummy recipe. Don't be freaked out by what seems to be the thin sauce when you are making this. The peanuts serve to "thicken" the sauce.

Slow Cooker Maple Country Style Ribs

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2006
A real dissapointment. I didn't taste much maple at all. All I got was spiced ribs with not much juice. I added a bbq sauce and brown sugar glaze (basted on and then broiled) to save them.

Melanie's Beef Barley Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2006
Really nice soup. I didn't use mushrooms (hubby hates them) and I honestly didn't miss them. I did find that the beef taste needed a bit of a boost so right at the end of cooking I added a shot of beef base concentrate. That was exactaly what the receipe needed. Next time I think I will start with 3 cups of chix stock and 2 cups of beef stock to approximate what I did this time.

Cheddar Buttermilk Biscuits

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2006
Like the other reviewer, I was looking for a "scratch" cheese biscuit and this fit the bill. For the sake of my kids, I only added the slightest pinch of cayenne.

Apple, Cranberry, and Pear Crisp

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2006
Really yummy! I didn't have any honey, so I used Golden Syrup instead and it was delicious. I will make this again for sure.
