About this Cook
I have been married since May 2007 and have always had outdoor charcoal grills at all of my apartments, so we learned to grill pretty well. Then we moved to Texas and now we don't have a grill (aren't allowed to at an apartment) and I feel like I'm having to start from scratch with my recipes.
My favorite things to cook
Sweets (cookies, brownies and cakes) and anything quick and easy.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Sundays with a roast in the crock pot using McCormick Roast Seasoning and Brown Gravy Mix. Banana pudding using JELLO Vanilla pudding. See, nothing from scratch.
My cooking triumphs
I found a recipe on here "Catherine's Spicy Chicken Soup" and have made it my own and its a "must have" at Christmas when visiting family.
My cooking tragedies
I burnt queso dip because I decided to try to cook it on the skillet instead of the microwave or in a crockpot and I burned layer after layer of cheese onto the bottom of the pot and by the time I was done the queso tasted like burnt popcorn. Yuck!

Grandma's Chicken Noodle Soup
Yum! This was wonderful with some small, simple changes. - For 6 cups of the broth, use low-sodium - Only use 1/2 a tablespoon of salt vs 1 1/2 tablespoons - Add a cup of sliced carrots to the celery, onion mix - Drop the entire chicken (and drippings) into the broth when you get the broth to a boil after adding veggies - fish it all out and then pull it and put it back in Great recipe! Will use again and again!

Emily's Famous Chili
Too spicy for us! We had to give it away because even with two pieces of cornbread and tons of cheese, it was still too spicy and we live in Texas!

BBQ Pork for Sandwiches
GREAT! I used 2 - 2.5 lb Pork Tenderloins. I read that this is like using T-Bone's to make hamburgers, but MAN tenderloin made great pork sandwiches! Wonderful and is enough to have food to eat for several days!
