My husband and I share the cooking. On the fly, he's more the chef and I'm the baker. He's the homemaker and supports my service to our country. We are dirt bikers and very involved in nature.
My favorite things to cook
Pie's, cookies, cakes (for many occasions, I get requests). I like learning new, quick easy, but filling recipes for main courses. I always make sure my kids know about the healthier snacks and still give them treats, just not too many.
My favorite family cooking traditions
When I first got married, we hosted a Super Bowl Party and I made most of the main courses, everyone else brought other snacks. Since then, I have made many different types of Stromboli and I'm always asked for the recipe. I make the dough from scratch, it's more rewarding to me. I always make pecan for most holidays during the year--usually unexpected, always enjoyed!
My cooking triumphs
Pecan pie that is better than my husband's mom :) My food taster husband, doesn't eat any pumkin pie--except mine. I like making diffent colored jello eggs for my kids (out of the mold that is around at Easter by JELLO. baked a low carb/low cal cake called "Holy Cow Cake". It is SUPER delicious and tastes like you would gain 30 pounds just by looking at it and it's a great treat. Quick and easy summer "salad" of cherry pie filling, cool whip, marshmallows--chilled.
My cooking tragedies
Was trying to hurry with pork sausage for breakfast once and, well, the OUTSIDE was done... A Tuna Loaf that seemed raw--not supposed to be... Didn't know I had some OLD flour out of the freezer, bad for cookies.
