Better Than Best Fried Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2012
This was definitely crunchy. I read other reviews saying the flavors were bland. I added more seasoning (my own mix, not seasoning salt) to the soup mixture and flour mix, plus I seasoned the chicken itself. I guess I was being too liberal with my seasoning, it really needed more. My kids love it as is and devoured it. If I were to make it again, I won't be afraid of MORE seasoning.

Sage Pork Chops

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2011
I'm not sure how this got so many stars, I tried this tonight and told my family no one would get in trouble for not finishing. I will NOT be making this again.

Crispy Wontons

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2010
I didn't have any water chestnuts, so I didn't use any. I also added some chopped garlic. It was a big hit! Definitely will make again!

Easy Garlic Broiled Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2010
This was "OK" at best. I even added a little cayenne, and could have added more. It just didn't have much flavor, maybe it would make a better marinade. Probably won't make again, hubby and kids just took the skin off so it seems to be a waste.

Baked Mac and Cheese for One

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2009
This is by far the best mac and cheese recipe I've found (and I've been looking for a long time)! I added a little bit of garlic powder along with the onion powder, but that is a personal preference of mine. As for the review stating that Kraft Macaroni and Cheese is the best...these types of dishes are not meant to recreate the blue box. If that's what you're after, just make a box. But if you are looking for a warm, creamy, cheesy and easy pasta dish this is one of the best! I too will have to figure out how to increase it to make it for more than just one! Yummy!

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2009
My family has used this recipe for years. We don't use any water, however. That would be an answer to some reviewers who thought the gravy wasn't thick enough. We also use this on skinless chicken legs or thighs. Excellent over rice. I would not recommend cooking this on high for only a few hours. It will still be good, but you're taking a tough piece of meat and only making it slightly tender. I always cook mine on low all day long.

Garlic Chicken Fried Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2008
I found the recipe to be a little on the bland side. The "Garlic" in the title is misleading. I have another chicken fried chicken recipe I will continue to use.

Grilled Flat Iron Steak with Blue Cheese-Chive Butter

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2008
First of all I have to say that I am not a Blue Cheese fan. That being said I thought that the butter would mellow the flavor a little and thought I would give this a shot. I did not care for the blue cheese butter at all. The marinade for the steak, however, was very good. It could use just a little bit more kick. Next time I will try using fresh herbs instead of dried, the flavor would be so much better.

Penne with Spicy Vodka Tomato Cream Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2008
This was very good. There are some things that I didn't like about it, though. I had cut way back on the amount of pasta and it was still too much. I wouldn't cook this again for myself and the kids, it doesn't reheat real well. If I'm having company, though...!

I personally don't eat eggs, but the "crew" I cooked it for all loved it, even went back for seconds.

Chicken-Fried Chops

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2008
My husband, his mom and her sister all give this 5 stars. I would agree with some changes. I too like things very seasoned and thought this could have used a little more flavor. I will make this again, but I'll probably use chicken broth instead of water, season the chops before flouring and add some onions or maybe mushrooms to the sauce.

Creamy Au Gratin Potatoes

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2007
This was by far my best attempt at Au Gratin potatoes. I did change a few things as other reviewers had suggested. I used 1 cup whipping cream & 1 cup milk and I added 1/2 tsp. onion powder (since I omitted the actual onions) and 1/2 tsp. garlic powder to the flour. You will def. need to use a 2 qt. dish.

Nikki's Steak Saltimbocca

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2007
This was very good! I wasn't able to get skirt steak so I used some thin sliced top round and it was okay. I know that skirt steak or flank steak are very flavorful meats and would be better suited for this. Next time I will chop up the sage instead of using it whole. I will cook this again!

Choco-Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2007
I used the Splenda Brown Sugar and also added a little extra chocolate chips (although it doesn't need it). Mine did come out a little cake-like, but that doesn't affect the taste. These cookies taste even better than when I try to make regular choc. chip cookies. I will make these again!

This was so good! I loved the way the crust held up and didn't get mushy, even under cream gravy! Will make this again and again.
