Deep South Fried Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2010
This is same as my basic recipe. Sometimes I just use Wesson Oil. I always use my electric fry pan, as I am always doing large batches. Would use more seasonings and add paprika and garlic powder. I also soak my chicken in buttermilk for several hours (makes it very moist). And, the main key is to have your oil SIZZLING hot BEFORE you begin. This helps to keep the batter from falling off. Sometimes I just give the chicken a good browning on both sides and then pop into a 350 degree oven for 30 minutes or so to finish it. This is always helpful for large batches, if not enough room in fry pan.

Blueberry Cheesecake Ice Cream

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2010
This is so good! I used 1 quart of half and half, and 1 pint of heavy cream for the "milk". I omitted the graham crumble, and just made it as Blueberry Ice Cream. I also doubled the blueberry sauce as other writers suggested. Fantastic, will be a regular rotation in my summer treats! This was my first attempt at homemade ice cream, and I guess I lucked out on a good recipe! Thank you!

Mari's Clam Lovers Chowder

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2007
This is wonderful. My only tip would be to use a very large pot, as it is a huge recipe. If you don't have a very large one, make just 1/2 the recipe.

Banana Cream Pie I

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2007
This was awesome. A few changes after making it once, and it was a little runny. 1. Make sure to use yolks of egg only 2. I replaced the milk with half and half 3. I added 1/2 tsp. of amond extract 4. I used a graham cracker crust from ALL RECIPES submitted by Janaan Cunnungham (Thank you Janaan) 5. I served with homemade sweetened whipped topping with sliced almonds on top. 6. I did bake it, other reviews said not to, and it was great 7. I brushed lemon juice on the bananas to keep them from browning I would make this again and again. My tasters loved it. It was very attractive, held it's shape nicely and it had AWESOME flavor, from the crust to the top!!!! Thanks so much to Ruby!!!!

This was soooo good. I would use about half the salt though. I will be making this again and again.

I liked this very much. I think the next time I make it I will add 1-2 extra bananas to intensify the taste.

Slow Cooker Beef Stew IV

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2006
My family of 5 are all picky eaters. They LOVED this recipe. I have tried many beef stews only to have the meat be chewy and the broth watery. Not this one! I made some variations: Added some celery in with the potatoes, and added 1 bay leaf. I also sauteed 16 oz. fresh mushrooms in with the onions, and used 6 tbsp. butter instead of 3. I added 3 tbsp. flour at the end. Yum! Perfect on a cold winters day.
