Rob's Spicy Sweet Buffalo Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2014
I followed the recipe just the way it's written at first. However when I tasted the sauce it just tasted like soy sauce to me so I added more hot sauce. Also after tossing the chicken in the sauce I threw it under the broiler for a bit and I think that made it way better. I will make this again but I will use my own fried chicken tender recipe. I wasn't big on the flavors used in this one. It wasn't bad I just like mine better. Also I will cut way down on the soy sauce next time and continue to broil the chicken for a few minutes after covered in sauce. All in all this tasted a lot more like teriyaki to me than buffalo flavor. Still good and worth making though.

Artichoke & Spinach Dip Restaurant Style

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2013
YUM!!!! I can't give this enough stars! I'm a huge fan of a certain casual restaurant chain's spinach and artichoke dip but I hated getting it because it's so expensive. I came across this recipe and I wasn't sure about the alfredo sauce but thought I'd give it a shot. I made a double batch and used Newman's Own and Bertolli Roasted Garlic flavored Alfredo sauce in the jar. I also added a container of the philadelpia garlic cooking cream along with regular cream cheese as well. I did this so I didn't have to mess with roasting garlic but I'd still have the flavor. This stuff was so good I seriously gave myself a horrid stomachache because I could not stop devouring it. I did have to add a little bit of spices to it to give it a bit more flavor, I also added a smidge of sour cream too. Don't get me wrong it was good with out any additions, I just wanted it to have a little more kick. I can't remember what spices I used exactly but I just read over other recipes and incorporated a mixture of what they used. I took this with me to a family gathering and everyone loved it. It makes a lot though and I definitely did not need a double batch that's for sure. I will make this again for sure in the future. Right now I can't even bear to look at if since I ate so much of the darn stuff.

Tasty Baked Meatballs

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2013
Easy and good! Just got done making these and everyone in my family liked them except for my six year old who pretty much doesn't like anything. I made a simple gravy using just an envelope of brown gravy mix and about a fourth of a cup of sour cream and a dash of nutmeg. We topped the meatballs and our mashed potatoes with this gravy and it was great. I love these type of meatballs and not so much the ones you find in tomato based sauces. I find good recipes for these typed of meatballs harder to find. For me baking meatballs always makes the process easier so that's another good thing this recipe has going for it. I will be making these again for sure!

Super Easy Doughnuts

Reviewed: May 28, 2013
What a mess!I'm only giving these a two because my kids are devouring them right now and I didn't have to trash them. I doubled this recipe and followed the advice of the majority of reviewers who used less milk than called for. Even doing this I still had to add WAY more flour and still these were not workable enough to roll out. I ended up using a mini cookie scooper and just scooping in the dough into the oil. What I ended up with were puffed up weird biscuit looking things, not the donut holes I was hoping for. I guess that can be expected when I couldn't roll the stuff up into a ball in the first place. As far as the taste it was nothing special. We all thought it tasted like a big glob of funnel cake/elephant ear dough. This isn't a bad thing necessarily but it sure wasn't what I was going for. So I'm going to have to agree with the reviewer who said this recipe actually made them angry. I totally felt the same way when I carefully followed the instructions and measurements and ended up with something almost unusable. I wasn't expecting spectacular donut shop style donuts but I also wasn't expecting funnel cake balls either. So I say make at your own risk. I double it because having three kids and a husband everything goes quickly. Man do I wish I wouldn't have doubled this recipe.

One Bowl Chocolate Cake III

Reviewed: May 23, 2013
Just got done eating this cake and it was very good. I followed directions exactly except for adding the full cup of cocoa. The cake was very moist, actually that is an understatement. To me the cake almost had more of a brownie like consistency than that of a cake. Since it was so moist it was nearly impossible to cut or get out in one piece even though I carefully lined pan with parchment paper. Flavor was pretty good and I'm sure it would've been better if I had used better cocoa so that's on me. I would probably make this cake again but not if it was for something special where it needed to look nice. It's just way to moist and doesn't hold together well enough for me to want to decorate.

Bar Cookies from Cake Mix

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2013
I made this as written except I used a funfetti cake because that's what I had on hand and I used two eggs and 4t of water per reviews. This was very good and my entire family loved it. I would say it is best described as one reviewer said as a cross between a brownie and a cookie. The only reason I didn't give it five stars was because it was VERY sweet. This is coming from a person who is a big sweets eater. It is very seldom that I have to stop eating something because of it being so rich and sweet but that was the case with these bars. I think next time I will try it without the brown sugar and see how it turns out. There will be a next time for sure as I plan on trying it with lots of other cake mix flavor/mix in combinations. Thanks for a great recipe.

Ground Beef Curly Noodle

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2013
I have had this in my recipe box forever just waiting to try it out. I wasn't expecting much because hello it's base is ramen noodles. I do like ramen though and all the other ingredients so I figured this would make one of those yummy so bad for you dishes. Well not so much. I made this exactly as specified and it didn't really have any flavor. The only thing you could really taste was canned tomatoes. I will say it was very filling though. I don't think I'll make this again. If I did it require lots of tweaks where I might as well just make something else.

The Perfect Cinnamon Roll Icing

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2012
Super good!I've always used a recipe that used more cream cheese and figured I'd like it better that way. Tonight I didn't have enough cream cheese left for my regular recipe so I tried this one. I am pleasantly surprised and I now have a new regular recipe. Thanks so much!

Taco Rice

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2012
I really liked this. I changed it very slightly by leaving out the black olives and cutting the taco seasoning in half. I was thinking it would probably be too strong with the whole packet of seasoning. When I went to add the rice it seemed like it was not nearly enough rice for all the liquid so I added maybe half a cup more. With these small changes it turned out awesome. This was quick and you could really change it up by added different ingredients. I will make this again for sure. Thanks so much!

Brunzie's Baseball Casserole

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2012
I really wish I could've given this a 3.5 instead of a 4. The good thing is it makes something pretty good out of a bunch of stuff you probably might already have in your cupboard. Now the bad part is it is WAY too salty! You do not need to add any extra salt to this at all because there is way more than enough in the soups. I think this would be better with low sodium soups. I had expected the mixture of noodles and rice to be really weird but it wasn't. They both kinda blended together and you couldn't really differentiate one from the other. So all in all this wasn't too bad but I'm not sure I'd make it again.

Classic Hamburger Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2012
I hate when people change the recipe and then rate it but that's exactly what I'm going to do because I was i a rush and had to use what I had on hand. I kept the sauce part the same except I added about half a can of cream of mushroom soup because I didn't have another can of tomato soup and needed to make the meal go farther. Then I used cheesy instant potatoes because again I was crunched for time and that's what I had on hand. This still turned out super good. It isn't exactly pretty to look at but it's just awesome comfort food. Thanks for sharing!

Apple Streusel Cobbler

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2012
I was craving apple cobbler but had never made it before. I always thought it would be too difficult so I never tried it. I can't believe it took me so long. This recipe was as simple as it gets and soooo yummy. I could've done without the sweetened condensed milk layer but it wasn't bad at all. I think I'm just not used to having it that way. I did add more of the spices both to the topping and to the apples themselves. I also made more of the topping because that's my favorite part. Give this a try you won't be sorry!

Chicken Enchiladas with Creamy Green Chile Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2012
This was very good. As much as I hate people changing recipes I have to admit I did. Nothing too big though I just used flour tortillas because that is what I had and I added some cream cheese to the sauce as well. The end product was fantastic and I will make again for sure. Thanks!!!

Decadent Pumpkin Muffins

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2012
These were very good. I did change two things. I used four whole eggs instead of what was called for. I also changed the spice and used pumpkin pie spice instead. All in all these turned out awesome. My only complaint would be that there is a slight tangy aftertaste to them that I'm not fond of. I'm thinking maybe that was from the yogurt but not sure. Like I said this is a very small complaint because to be honest I just stuffed myself with these. Thanks for a great recipe that I can give my kids for breakfast or a snack and not feel too terrible about!

Apple Dip

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2012
If I could give this more stars I would. This is beyond easy and it's so good I could eat it with a spoon till I burst! I first tasted this years ago when my child was in preschool and always meant to find the recipe but kept putting it off. When I saw this recipe I thought it sounded like the same thing but I figured it wouldn't be as good because it was so simple. Well I was wrong this is the recipe I was looking for and boy do I wish I had looked this up years ago. I will use this again and again! Thanks so much!

Marshmallow Popcorn Balls

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2012
This has become my family's go to quick snack recipe. It's also fairly cheap as far as snack food recipes go. We try to always keep some popcorn and marshmallows in the house for this treat. It's also good adding peanut butter or brown sugar too. Thanks so much for sharing this and giving my family a new favorite!

Fry Bread Tacos II

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2012
I have to admit I totally make the taco part of this my own way, I only use this recipe for the fry bread. It's a five star recipe for that alone I think. Everyone in my family LOVES this bread even the pickiest one. We love it with tacos or even with chilli. I always make extra because we use it for dessert with cinnamon and sugar. If you top that with vanilla ice cream it tastes a lot like fried ice cream. Obviously you can tell we love this fry bread recipe. It's super simple and fool proof.Everyone always thinks I did something amazing and when I share the recipe they are amazed at how little goes into it. So definitely make the fry bread and I'd say just do the tacos your own way!

Very good as written but could use some more spice and kick which you can easily add. Tastes even better as leftovers the next day. Thanks for a great recipe!
