J.P.'s Big Daddy Biscuits

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2010
This is the absolute best yet. I've tried for years to find a really good recipe and this is it. I didn't use all the milk, actually probably only 3/4 c. so I'd recommend starting out with less and then adding as needed. I used butter/Crisco mix. A definite keeper.

Quick and Easy Chicken Noodle Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2010
This was great. I usually prefer stews but this was very good. I followed one reviewer's recommendation and cooked the chicken in the soup. I would NOT do that again. The white "scum" from cooking the chicken had to stay in the soup. It couldn't be strained out. I would add cooked chicken next time to make a clearer, prettier broth/soup.

Easy Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2010
This is absolutely delicious. I used organic milk and cream. I didn't have mint so I put 2 t. of vanilla. I chopped semi-sweet choc. chips in a processer which put nice chocolate flecks through the ice cream. Delicious and very easy.

Taco Seasoning I

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2010
I made this before but made the mistake of only using a couple teaspoons for one pound of meat. It wasn't good. I figured I'd try it one more time after reading the glowing reviews and seeing the amount others used. I ended up mixing 2T flour in the mix so it was ready to use straight from the fridge. I ended up using 5 T for 1 1/2 lbs. of meat and it was great. Again, the 5T included the flour mixed in. I'm sold.

Grilled Venison Backstrap

If I could give this more stars, I would. This was fantastic. The meat had a sweet taste. I used Big Al's KC BBQ Sauce recipe for the sauce. Wonderful. I used 1/2 slice of bacon per because I find it easier to test the meat when it's cooking. Perfection!

Whole Wheat Pancakes

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2009
I used all Whole White Wheat flour instead of the mixture and Splenda instead of brown sugar. I didn't need as much milk. Turned out great. Will definitely do again.

Great recipe!! My daughter and I made them for Christmas. The dough seemed to be a perfect consistency. I concur with the others that the orange peel added a wonderful flavor. Next time, I'll roll out the dough to 1/4" before putting in the fridge so all I have to do is cut out the shapes. The dough gets sticky fast. I may even try replacing the corn syrup with molasses or even honey next time just to be healthier. Definitely a keeper!!

One Bowl Brownies

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2007
I made this with my 4-year old daughter and 4-year old nephew. EASY to make and they tasted great. I'd made homemade brownies once before and didn't like them. This recipe was far better. I will definitely make them again. They were actually better after they set/cooled but not many made it to that point!

Cheddar Chicken Pie

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2007
I must say that I didn't realize what the consistency of this would be when I read the recipe. It is very eggy and soft - very much like a thick breakfast casserole yet without the bread to make it firm. My husband liked it but I couldn't eat it because of the texture. I would not make this again. The flavor of the crunchy part was good but I couldn't get around the very soft texture. I would imagine it could be altered to make it firmer (less milk or add bread) but I'm not willing to make that effort to try.

These were great. Moist, chewy. They dried out very quickly though...not that there were many left.

Westrup Whole Wheat Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2007
Great recipe. Light yet filling. I actually thought I'd done something wrong when making it because the dough was so "tough." I had to add extra water and then knead by hand because it was stopping my Kitchen Aid (has never happened before). Turned out great though. Will know what to expect next time - I will definitely make it again.

Chicken Cordon Bleu II

This was a good recipe. Not as much flavor as I would have wanted but definitely a good dinner. Sauce was good but I couldn't help but think of the excessive butter as I watched it separate at the end.

Health Nut Blueberry Muffins

These are fantastic!! The banana adds a wonderful sweetness. My daughter, who doesn't like bananas, gobbled it up. The only change I made was half milk / half sour cream. The muffins were very moist, full of flavor and healthy. This is a keeper!!

Whole Wheat Blueberry Pancakes

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2006
I was very surprised at how good this recipe is. My diabetic 3-year-old wanted something "different" for breakfast. I suggested pancakes and she jumped for joy. I quickly found this recipe and tried it. I followed the recipe and it turned out great. Good texture and just sweet enough. Very easy to make. 1/4 cup is too much for one pancake - for us. I recalculated the carb count and found that it's approx. 9 grams of carbs per pancake and it made approx. 15 pancakes. Important info for the diabetics out there.
