Basil-Lime Sorbet

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2010
This was an amazing sorbet!!!! My husband and I gobbled it up. It is the perfect introduction to spring. I served it with sliced strawberries and they added a nice balance of sweet to the sour of the lime. It was great and I will definitely make this all through the summer and the years after. Thank you so much!

Argentine Lentil Stew

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2010
This was a very strange flavor combination. I found it interesting for the first few bites and then couldn't continue. The husband, however, loved it. It's very strange how people have different tastes. Anyway, I won't be making this again; sorry.

Irish Champ

This is super simple but amazing in taste and texture. Just made it for the St. Patty's Day dinner and it was amazing! Thanks so much, I will definitely be serving this in the future.

We really loved these enchiladas. They had great flavor and balance and I think I will keep this recipe for the future. Thanks!

Spinach Enchiladas

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2010
These are very decent-tasting enchiladas. And for a vegetarian option, they are great. I doubt that I will make them on a consistant basis, but they were good to try.

Coconut Curry Tofu

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2010
This is actually 4.5 stars. It is such a great curry. The flavors go really well and taste very authentic. I will probably use this as my base curry recipe from now on. Thanks so much!

this is a great recipe! my husband (who is french) loved it and ate the whole thing for dinner!!! - NOT recommended by the way. he did say that onions were not something he remembered being included. so, probably i will not include the onions, or maybe just not as much, next time. but there will definitely be a next time for this recipe!!! absolutely wonderful.

Tofu Parmigiana

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2010
This was incredibly delicious!!! Like others, I dipped my tofu in a mixture of egg (with a little added cream) and then into the breadcrumbs. I baked those pieces of tofu for 20 minutes at 375ºF. Then, I used a jar of Trader Joe's premade marinara sauce. I had two layers of tofu. I baked the whole thing for 30 minutes. It came out beautifully. Because I used the premade sauce, I didn't add any oregano, basil or garlic. Also, my breadcrumbs were Italian seasoned, so I didn't add any on that account as well. I also didn't add any salt or pepper because the sauce and breadcrumbs were salty enough (in fact, a little too salty). This dish turned out amazing and I will definitely make this for many years to come. I don't ever see the need to use eggplant or veal in place of the tofu; it's THAT good! Thanks so much!!!

Chickpeas in Tomato Sauce With Feta and Wine

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2010
This was a great dish. I also did not drain the tomatoes. I added a little cumin to the onions and served the dish over turmeric cous cous. My husband thought that it was too dry over the cous cous, so I will probably add more liquid to the bean/tomato mixture next time. Thank you, this was great!

Mmm-Mmm Better Brownies

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2010
I have made these twice in the past 3 days and they are delicious! Just the right texture and taste. I'm never going to make box brownies again! Thanks so much! (I've also been adding caramel to the brownies and it gives such a great flavor!)

Cheryl's Spinach Cheesy Pasta Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2010
This was a very comforting and filling dish. I will probably make this again, but I won't use as much cheese. I know that it is called a "cheesy" casserole, but it was too much. And, next time, I will leave out the cheddar. I felt that it didn't blend well with the other flavors of the dish.

Cheese Ravioli with Three Pepper Topping

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2010
This was good, but nothing amazing. I liked the concept of how to prepare the peppers - and I probably will make them similar in the future - I just won't be making this recipe again.

Cabbage Rolls II

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2010
This recipe was good, but not like what I was remembering my grandmother making. At first bite, it tasted exactly as I remembered, but the more I ate, the sauce just tasted a little "off". I think it had too much Worcestershire sauce in it. Like others, I quadrupled the sauce, however, I don't think all the sauce ingredients should be increased proportionally. I would limit the sugar and the Worcestershire sauce. Also, it seemed a little bland after a while. I will probably look for my grandmother's recipe for next time.

Tomato Barley Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2010
This soup was very hearty and filling but it was nothing special. It seemed like it was the "Zero Point" Weight Watchers soup with barley added.

Pesto Pasta with Green Beans and Potatoes

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2010
I didn't think that this had any particularly special flavor. It was an interesting combination, but not one I'm willing to try again. I didn't like the pesto/yogurt combination; I love both but I didn't feel it added anything to either flavor or made them stronger. I did, however, like the potatoes and green beans together, but I will probably make those by themselves instead of couple with pasta.

Roasted Veggies with Couscous

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2009
I made this tonight and it was simple and delicious. I roasted the vegetables, even though the recipe says to grill them. I added salt, pepper and ground Italian seasoning plus olive oil. The vegetables I used were: red bell pepper, zucchini, yellow squash, cherry tomatoes, yellow onion and sliced Crimini mushrooms. It was a very light and simple dish, but made for a great tasting meal. Thanks for the idea, I will make this again.

Hopi Corn Stew

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2009
I just made this tonight. First off, it makes WAY more than 12 servings... more like 25!!! The flavor is really good and reminds me of a hamburger stew my aunt makes. I would probably add more hominy and take away 2 potatoes (or more). I also added 2 Tbsp. garlic powder to the stew as well as about 3 cups more liquid; 1 cup beef broth and 2 cups water. This is a really great stew for a cold winter night. I will definitely make this again; Thanks!!!

Lentils and Rice with Fried Onions (Mujadarrah)

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2009
This is such a simple dish yet so delicious. Every component makes such a great flavor when put together like this. Next time, I will make more onions; since it seems like you can't get enough of those. Other than that, this is such a great recipe that I will be making for years to come! Thanks so much.

Ian's Potato-Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2009
This was a very disappointing recipe. I used everything called for and it just didn't make anything flavorful. There was too much celery flavor from the cream of celery. I don't even know what to criticize about it since there really wasn't much of any flavor to this soup. I'm sorry, but I won't be making this again.

Extreme Banana Nut Bread 'EBNB'

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2009
This was an amazing recipe for banana nut bread! The smell emanating from the kitchen has been to die for for the past 2 hours. I didn't have enough ingredients so I cut the recipe in half but it didn't hurt it at all. I will definitely be making this version again and see no need to try and find another recipe for banana bread! Thanks so much!!!
