About this Cook
Stay-at-home Mom with 4 very busy kids. Married for 13 years.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake with my kids. It's a great way to spend family time.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I come from a Portuguese family, and we make lots of soup! All from scratch...no broths or stocks. I am always getting tips from my Grandmother, who calls her cooking style "peasant, or country-style".
My cooking triumphs
Succesfully cooking for 15-20 people almost every Thanksgiving!
My cooking tragedies
Not letting a birthday cake cool enough before frosting it, and having it literally fall apart on the way to my brother's birthday party. I'll never make that mistake again!

Cinnamon Swirl Bundt Coffee Cake
One of my family's favorite cinnamon recipes. The sour cream is key to the soft, tender consistancy of this cake. I use brown sugar for the filling, and double the amounts. Makes a delicious, gooey center. Moist and delicious every time!

Eclair Cake
We loved this recipe. It did taste a lot like an eclair! My 3 year old son actually did most of the work...very easy and loved that it is no-bake. Great for summer barbeques. Made my own fudge icing, which hardedned nicely in the fridge and then softened slightly at room temp: 1cup sugar, 1/2 cup cocoa powder, 1/2 cup milk, 4 tbsp butter, 2 tbsp lt corn syrup, dash of salt. Boil together in saucepan 3 minutes, then add 1 tsp vanilla and 3/4 to 1 cup powdered sugar. it will pour right over the cake. will definately make this again for a crowd!

Spinach and Leek White Bean Soup
Great soup that my whole family, which includes 3 little boys, loved! I also added an extra can of broth, and left out the cumin, since I didn't have any on hand, and it turned out delicious. Also, so easy my 4 year old did most of the work! We love soup in our house...we'll definately make this one often!
