About this Cook
I'm a food junkie who uses cooking as a way to relax after a hard day, explore the world, and feed my addiction, all at the same time. My best vacations, fondest memories, and life's passions all tie in to food somehow. I'm 35 years old, engaged to a fantastic man, no kids, 2 jobs, and 4 pets. When I'm not cooking, I'm reading about food, watching others cook on tv, and planning vacations based around the whims of my stomach, since it's never steered me wrong! Travel is the other big passion in my life, and one that I indulge as often as possible.
My favorite things to cook
I love anything with a lot of prep work involved (when I have the time, that is!) My favorite parts of cooking are the parts that people take extra steps to avoid - the chopping, peeling, dicing, mincing, etc. I'm never happier than when I have a knife in my hand.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving! It's just the two of us, but we cook for an army. There's always a week or more afterwards of leftovers, which is even better since no one had to do anything!
My cooking triumphs
I make the world's best cheesecake. I'll never share that recipe with anyone - it's been handed down in my family for a few generations and no one makes it as well as I do.
My cooking tragedies
I tend to get a little seasoning-happy from time to time, and if something doesn't taste right, I'll keep "fixing" it until it's just plain ruined. Thankfully, I'm learning to quit while I'm ahead, and haven't really ruined anything like this in quite a while.

Florida Key Lime Pie
SO good and so much easier than I'd ever thought Key Lime Pie would be to make. My only (small!) complaint was that there was more filling than my pie crust could hold. Not that I'm above eating the filling on its own out of a bowl! :)

Classy Chicken
Mine needed way more wine to make the sauce, and next time I'd use less dill, if not substitute some other herb altogether - it was really overpowering. Fine dinner, but nothing to rave about.

Easy Tuna Patties
I had to make a few changes - mine needed an extra egg since my eggs were small, made six larger, thinner patties rather than 8 small ones, cooked for 3 min/side instead of 5, etc. But, easy and delicious nonetheless. I served mine with a garlic mayo for dipping and it was pretty tasty.
