Kalua Pig in a Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2008
Never thought I could have a taste of home made in a crock pot! Can't get simpler than this! Can't believe how close the flavor is to real kalua pig. Great recipe!

Grandma's Egg Custard Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2007
Yummy! I used skim milk and it still came out silky and creamy. To prevent the crust from becoming soggy, prebake the crust for about 20 minutes then immediately brush bottoms and sides with egg wash and cool pie on wire rack. I also used 4 eggs instead of 3 and baked the pie in a water bath. The water bath caused an increase in baking time (20-25 minutes longer). To prevent crust from burning, cover exposed crust with foil.

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2007
Decadent and sinful! For chocolate lovers only! I doubled the recipe, added 3/4 cup chopped walnuts + 1 cup of milk chocolate chips, and baked in 9x13 in pan. I also cooked down some frozen red raspberries + 1/2 cup sugar, strained, then added enough to the frosting to yield a slightly tart raspberry flavor. This brownie is perfect with a BIG GLASS OF MILK!

Grandma's Gingersnaps

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2007
Excellent cookie! Comes out thin and crispy on the outside, chewy in the middle. Baked them for exactly 8 min and they came out perfect. Be sure to follow the directions and leave them on the cookie sheet for 5 min before transferring to a rack (or else they will fall apart!). And they spread out A LOT, so don't make them too big! Delicious!

Vegetable Quiche Cups to Go

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2007
Pretty yummy for a low fat, low carb recipe. I added chopped tomatoes instead of the green pepper, and some smoked turkey deli meat. Also added thyme and garlic salt for taste, and sprinkled cheese on top. Great and easy recipe!

Mrs. Sigg's Snickerdoodles

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2007
These cookies are delicious! Just as they are described - crispy outside, soft & chewy inside. Mmmmm! I agree with other reviewers to use 3 TBS sugar to 2 tsp cinnamon. Baking them 9-10 minutes in my oven worked the best (8 minutes came out a little undercooked). This recipe is a definite keeper!

Creamy Blueberry Pie

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2007
Yummy dessert, but not spectacular. As other reviewers said, the topping was on the sweet side. If I make it again, I will either make less than 1/2 of the topping or not use it at all.

Cinnamon Rolls II

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2006
Light, fluffy, and buttery! I don't have a bread machine, so I made with my mixer and hands and they still came out delicious!I made half of the recipe..Mixed 1/4 cup warm water + 1 tsp sugar + 2 tsp dry yeast and set aside. Melted butter + warm milk in micro(45 sec) then added egg, sugar, 1 tsp vanilla, & water in mixer. After yeast grew, added to mixer. Combined flour + salt, then added slowly to mixer. Dough was very sticky but with enough flour for dusting, i kneaded for 5 minutes by hand. Then placed dough in greased bowl, covered with damp towel and let sit in warm place for 1 hour. Then I followed the rest of the directions in the recipe. I will definitely make this again! A winner!

Friendship Soup Mix in a Jar

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2006
This soup is delicious! I will definitely make these as christmas gifts! I made a few changes to the recipe: Used 1x14.5oz can chopped tomatoes (like others suggested), used 1/4 cup onion soup mix instead of onion flakes, substituted garlic salt instead of garlic powder, and used bite size flank steak/chopped steak instead of ground beef. No added salt or seasoning needed once all done! Great fast and easy recipe!
