Sweet Potato Casserole II

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2010
This was a big hit! Used real butter and added pecans. Could maybe use a bit of salt... and I'm intrigued by the other reviewers suggestions of sprinkling some brown sugar on top.

Lamb Chops with Balsamic Reduction

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2009
OMG, you have to make this!!! It was awesome. The only changes I made were to add mushrooms, use fresh herbs and add the lamb back into the sauce for the last minute or two to warm it back up. Served with crusty bread and asparagus baked with shallots and parmesan. Oh, and double sauce.

Tender Barbecued Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2008
This was great! I used 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts and 1.5 lbs thighs, jack daniels bbq sauce, diet coke (all I had), 1/2 lemon juice, added a jar of chili sauce, a dash of worsh. sauce, lots of garlic, and some italian seasoning. I cooked it on low for 9 hrs and left the lid open for the last 2 hrs to let it thicken up. The chicken completely fell apart and I served on buns like a sloppy joe. I will definitely be making this again! UPDATE 12/14/08: Made this agin and this time used only chicken thighs, chopped the onion and added a few dashes of habanero hot sauce. Even better!

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2008
I only used a 2.5 lb roast and cooked it for 8 hrs on low... it completely fell apart and I ended up with pot roast stew. It tasted great though! I added worsh. sauce, garlic, mushrooms, carrots, onions, potatoes and served it over buttered egg noodles.

Japanese Ginger Salad Dressing

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2008
4 stars for being a good base recipe. I used half the soy sauce and half the lemon juice, added 1/2 lime juiced, 1 tbs sesame oil, 2 - 3 tbs rice vinegar, 1/2 tsp splenda, and 3 tbs plain greek style yogurt... then it was awesome! Even better after sitting in the frig overnight!

Pasties II

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2008
DO NOT USE PRE-MADE PIE DOUGH. If you want the real thing you must make your own. Also, all ingredients are a must: carrot, rutabaga and the rest. When I was a kid spending my summers in Bootjack and Houghton/Hancock I ate these doused in ketchup, which is still great, but to spice it up a bit try mixing in some chili sauce and/or horseradish and lemon juice. Yum :)

Hot Artichoke and Spinach Dip II

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2007
This is really good, but only with some changes. It was way too dry. I had to add some cream (about 1/3 cup) to thin it out a bit. I also used sour cream instead of mayo, skipped the garlic salt and just doubled the fresh garlic, used monterey jack instead of mozzarella and italian seasoning instead of dried basil. After all the changes it deserves 5 stars!
