F is for Fresh Butter

I have two favorite memories with butter. The first is last Easter when I was making whipped cream. Of course I got distracted and ended up making butter! I drained and rinsed the butter curds and added a little salt! We ended up with the unexpected addition of fresh butter to our Easter meal. Yum!

My second favorite memory is the first time I made Swiss Meringue Buttercream. Man, does it use a lot of butter! By the time the frosting and cake were done, I'd used 13 sticks of butter! I've not used that much in one recipe since then!

Wow, more than #3's of butter in a frosted cake? That must have been quite the dessert! I hope you got a deal on the ingredients as that must have been quite expensive to make.

I didn't get to taste it since it was for a friend, but she did pay me well. Course everything was cheaper then!

I'm trying to find out how to make that "dollop" look when frosting cupcakes the way you do. If you could e-mail me , or tell me what they call that, I would sure love to know. Thanks, two2squids@comcast.net

About Me
I love to take simple recipes and give them an unexpected twist! I share my cooking experiments with my husband (and sometimes our two cats will sneak a bite)! We live in Dallas, TX and love to travel.
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy baking, especially cupcakes. My current favorite things to make are punches, flavored popcorn and sheetcakes!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom's Thanksgiving stuffing. I enjoy making new traditions!
My cooking triumphs
Pool party food for 100 people!
My cooking tragedies
I baked a carrot cake for Easter 2010. The cream cheese frosting was too soft and the temperature outside was too warm, so the layers played slip and slide in my cake taker! It was edible, just not pretty!
