About this Cook
I have been married for a little over 2 years now and have an amazing 1 year old son. We are expecting another baby at the end of January 2009. I never cared to cook while growing up, so when I got married, I had no choice but to take the challenge head on. To my surprise, it turned out to be one of my favorite hobbies. I love trying new recipes and experimenting with new ingrediants in old ones.
My favorite things to cook
I love making casseroles. It's so nice when I can just put a meal together and pop it in the oven, and clean the kitchen while dinner is cooking.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My granny makes the best homemade biscuits. I used to help her when I was growing up...but only did so because I wanted to eat the dough! My mom and grandmother always cook a huge Thanksgiving dinner ( all of the traditional favorites ), and for Christmas, since everyone is burnt out on turkey and dressing by that time, my mom always makes enchiladas, tamales, rice and beans.
My cooking triumphs
When my husband actually compliments my cooking (and I don't mean verbally, I mean by getting seconds) and tells me he wants me to make something again - that is a feeling of accomplishment.
My cooking tragedies
I can't seem to get desserts right. I have come to the conclusion that baking is an art. I'm still practicing.

Bread Pudding II
This was my first time making bread pudding and I thought it came out really well. I used 7 slices of sour dough bread and 3 eggs. I would definitely recommend this.

Easy Tilapia with Wine and Tomatoes
This was good but not great to me. I agree that a cup of wine is way too much. Also, I baked this in the oven at 350 degrees for 30 minutes and it came out perfectly.
