Cranberry Mango bread --- even on a diet!

I just put a loaf of the Cranberry Mango Bread into the oven and my mouth is already watering. I've made it before and it's fantastic. The mango infuses a subtle yet exotic flavor to the bread that sets it apart. Of course, it's almost as light as a cake and at about 250 calories a thin slice, it's not something I can indulge in often if I'm to keep my goal of losing a Pound-A-Week! Still, as a special treat NOTHING is forbidden on my weight loss plan.

In the past, I probably would have had a slice equal to about 3 or 4 "servings" and slathered it with butter or jam or peanut butter. Now, either "au naturale" or at most a thin shmeer of a low-cal, low-fat butter-type-spread (I use the Brummel & Brown 'yogurt' spread) will suffice. Luckily, with this recipe, you don't need anything extra to make it taste good.

That's one thing I've learned since beginning my diet this past January (down 21 pounds do far!) -- pick recipes that don't require spreads or sauces to make them a treat.  It defeats the purpose if I make a reasonably caloried dish but have to add 500 calories in butter or frosting to make it delicious.

But EVERYTHING I eat should be delicious -- or why bother eating it?

I love it when a recipe is so good it doesn't need anything extra! Love mangos, may have to try this :)

That sounds really good. I try to stay away from sweets in general. I was reading that spicy flavors are more satisfying that salty and sweet. Our bodies feel fuller that way.

About Me
Despite my username (given to me by my very much younger gaming friends) I am not a granny -- or even a mom. But I DO love gaming, as well as spinning and weaving, reading, gardening, cooking and much much more. My motto is: Nothing is too good to be true! (thank you, Florence Scoville Shin).
My favorite things to cook
Bread is probably my number one love. Close behind are vegetarian or near-veggie main courses, fresh-from-the-garden veggies, and all kinds of ethnic dishes.
My cooking triumphs
I make a wonderful sesame bread roll to die for!
My cooking tragedies
Don't ask! Just know it involves a smoke alarm going off.
