Broccoli Cheese Soup

I've made this twice in two weeks and there are only two of us. I didn't freeze any of it because I couldn't stop eating it! I made two changes. I used 2 bags of broccoli and 1 pound of Velveeta but also 1/2 pound of Monterey Jack Velveeta. Amazing!!!!

Berry Smoothie

Fantastic basic smoothie recipe! I was looking for a smoothie recipe to use my skim milk with instead of yogurt for the base. I wanted something low-cal and if you add 3 T. of splenda instead of the sugar this fits the bill perfectly! Thank you!

Applesauce

Fantastic! Super easy to make. I love that it doesn't have high fructose corn syrup like the jarred stuff. My family will be eating this from now on. Using the bruised apples in the discount section of the supermarket, a triple recipe cost me about $2.

Waistline-Friendly Turkey Chili

Wow!!! I was expecting something bland and, well, diet tasting. Boy was this great! I read the other reviews and didn't want mine too spicy so I omitted the chopped green chilies and the red pepper flakes. I used a tablespoon of fresh copped paste cilantro b/c the store didn't have fresh (it was wonderful). Like another reviewer said, I couldn't wait an hour and kept dipping in as it was simmering! Going in my favorites list for sure!!! Thanks!

Microwave Popcorn

Just to let people know, you can experiment with this basic recipe. I made it as stated in large quantities for an end of the school year party and it was delicious. But I have also made it with walnut oil and afterward sprinkled Splenda on top to give it that kettle corn flavor without the calories. Also, I always use white paper bags because that's what I have and it works well in those too!

Devil's Food Cake I

Fantastic dense chocolaty cake! Wouldn't change a thing! Those who had trouble....make sure your baking soda is fresh. If you are making in a glass 9x13 pan, you will need 35-40 minutes to cook through the middle. Will make this again!

BREAKSTONE'S Sour Cream Scalloped Potatoes

I'd give it 3 and 1/2 if I could. I left out the ham because I served this with chicken, but overall, it was just average in flavor. I think I like a true scalloped potato recipe better. This one is like half mashed and half scalloped. Also, cheddar cheese rather than Velveeta would have given it much more flavor and more punch. I won't be making this again.

Linda's Lasagna

Oh my! This was soooo good. I've never made lasagna but the recipe was easy to follow and it turned out great! I did add crushed garlic to the meat and onion but that was the only change. It's going right in my recipe box and I can't wait to make it for guests!

Shepherd's Pie

Just made this tonight to use up some potatoes I had. Didn't have Cream of Mushroom soup or mushrooms so I used Cream of Chicken instead. Also, used a bag of frozen mixed veggies and ground turkey. Despite these changes I was hoping it would be delicious but it just wasn't. As others have said, too bland. I had to add a ton of salt with almost every bite to make it taste like anything. Will try a different recipe next time.
