London Broil II

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2012
My mother-in-law gave me this recipe years ago, and it is pretty no-fail. As others have mentioned, flank steak is the best cut of meat. London Broil is a style of cooking, not really a cut. Many people get a "top round" cut instead of a flank, and that is what some people are calling London Broil. Anyway, this is also great made into small slider sandwiches for a casual party. Very flavorful!

Deep Dish Brownies

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2010
Hands-down best brownie recipe. I have used this for years, and for a special treat, use Dutch-processed cocoa and the very best of each ingredient, like Plugra instead of butter. Outstanding!

Ultimate Double Chocolate Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2005
These really are the ultimate chocolate cookies! The recipe can easily handle the addition of chocolate chips, walnuts, or even peanut butter chips. By the way, dutch processed cocoa can't really be substituted by adding baking soda to regular cocoa powder. It will do, but the taste is very different, which is why I keep both in my pantry.

Apple Squares

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2005
Pretty good recipe, but the moistness seems like it is underdone. I prefer a moist cake that does not feel like you are eating batter. I will try it with larger apple pieces next time, and not add the extra liquid despite the suggestions of others.

Oatmeal Butterscotch Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2005
This cookie was very sweet, and butterscotch chips taste kind of fake to me, but if you like that flavor, this is a consistent recipe that turns out well. I also cut the amount of chips by 25%.

Cherry Tomato Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2005
The flavors were way too strong, even for olive lovers. I needed a recipe to use the multitude of cherry tomatos my garden is yielding, but I won't make this again. It may work better as a pasta salad.

White Chocolate Orange Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2005
Pretty interesting recipe; definitely for subtle adult tastes. My five-year-old wasn't impressed. I used chopped pecans, and reduced the chips by 25%. Not my favorite, but I will make this again to add variety to my holiday offerings.

Garlic Green Beans

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2005
This is way better when sauted with fresh green beans instead of canned.

Joey's Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: May 28, 2002
It certainly had a lot of peanut flavor, but the cookie was too dry for my tastes. I like a slightly chewy peanut butter cookie.

Caramel Filled Chocolate Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2002
Wow! These are THE BEST cookies on the planet. You literally can't stay away from them. They are messy and time-consuming, so I save them for Christmas. I used Nestle Treasures instead of Rollos. Everyone begs me to make them.

Easy Slow Cooker French Dip

I seared the beef first and added a bay leaf and peppercorns. It was delicious.

Carrot Pineapple Cake I

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2002
This cake won me lots of compliments! I followed the previous suggestions about the extra batter and made six cupcakes, baking them for 15 minutes in the same oven. The remaining batter made a perfect cake. I omitted the coconut from my recipe due to requests. I also added about 4 oz. of cream cheese to the frosting and doubled the amount of juice. Yummy!
