Indian Chicken Curry II

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2014
Made the recipe exactly as written and it was just OK. For some reason, it came out really grainy (maybe my spices were old) and it had a strong, bitter taste to it. I think the paprika is where the bitterness came from. Disappointed since it got such rave reviews.

Joy's Prizewinning Trifle

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2013
Hey guess what?!!! I made this recipe EXACTLY AS WRITTEN and can therefore justify the five star rating. Anyways....I mixed the dry pudding mix with the cool whip and sour cream and it was the most perfect thing ever, delicious. I had no issue with it being too thick at all. I think you need to let the cool whip thaw completely and use the right amount of sour cream and the correct sized box of pudding, I think that's the mistake people are making...let the cool whip THAW.

Mexican Bean Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2013
I made this recipe exactly as stated, except I omitted the cilantro cause I HATE cilantro. It was delicious! Don't reduce the oil, vineger, salt or sugar. It's perfect as-is. I think if it's too oily, they are using the wrong kind of olive oil or something. I made this to take to a BBQ this weekend and made it in advance (as one of the other users suggested) so the flavors will have time to meld together.

Dad's New Zealand Mince Stew

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2013
This loose meat mixture was good, sweet, and very flavorful. I followed the recipe EXACTLY except I halved it because we are a small family. I only put in two teaspoons of pepper because my family doesn't like hot things and thats all I did differently. Not bad served on a bun, or over a potato. It reminds me of a German curry wurst, except instead of bratwurst there is ground beef in it.

Better than Sex Cake IV

Reviewed: May 28, 2011
Great starter recipe, gave it four stars cause with a couple tweaks it becomes amazing. When baking the cake, replace the water called for on the box with coconut milk. ( I like to use the regular yellow betty crocker cake mix) Also, use coconut milk to make the pudding. YUMMMMMMMM!

Diet Soup

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2010
This is one potent soup. I did not care for the flavor at all. I love cabage, but not like this. I think the onion soup mix is what ruined it, because it made the broth an icky brown and was rancid tasting. I have had a diet soup from women's world magazine that tasted great, but I lost the recipe, blah......

Sorrel Soup

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2010
My grandma in France made a similiar soup but used potato instead of rice. I would love to know where I can purchase sorrel in the states or where to get the seeds to plant it.

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2010
This recipe is 4 stars as is, but with a couple minor tweaks it can be five stars and out of this world good. First, add a teaspoon of vanilla, an extra quarter cup of milk, 1 extra tablespoon of sugar, and cut the salt to 1/2 a teaspoon. Now the next step is important.......Let the batter sit for twenty to thirty minutes. Your pancakes will be deliciously light and fluffy. Absolutely amazing and a must try.

Barbequed Marinated Flank Steak

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2010
Edible, but not great. Made exactly as recipe said, except used low sodium soy sauce. The meat was very tender, but the flavor was not very good. Won't be making this again. I'll resume my search for the perfect steak marinade............

Soft Sugar Cookies IV

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2009
Very soft and good. They were a touch salty for my tatse so next time I'll just put 1/2 a tsp of salt instead of 1 tsp. I also put 1 3/4 vanilla extract and 1/4 tsp almond extract instead of the 2 tsp of vanilla just to switch up the flavor a bit and it made the cookies even better.

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2009
These cookies are delicious and extremely soft. They stay soft for days and days too when kept in a container. I added some vanilla and salt as suggested by other reviewers. If you follow the recipe and use common sense, you can't screw this up......

Sugar Cookie Icing

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2009
I followed the recipe to a T and the two teaspoons of milk wasn't NEARLY enough to make the 1 cup of powdered sugar "smooth". It was a clumpy mess, so I had to add more milk, and more corn syrup then stated. It never completely hardened. I don't understand why this recipe has such high reviews!

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2009
I made the recipe as is and I have to agree with the previous reviews that they are a bit bland. I think adding more vanilla and sugar is a must. The texture was great however and I will make these again with a few tweaks.

Dirt Cake I

Reviewed: May 3, 2009
This recipe was okay but could use a couple of tweaks, which is why I rated it three stars. I followed the instructions, but I halved the recipe because other reviewers stated it made a lot. There were WAYYYY too many cookie crumbs and it was sickeningly sweet ( and I'm not usually one to complain about sweetness). Anyways, I recommend using half the cookies. Also, try using chocolate pudding, as this is how "real" dirt cake should be made. Forget about the butter all together, you don't need it for taste at all. All it does is give the cream cheese a thinner consistency once its blended in. So to achieve that, just throw in 2 extra tablespoons of milk instead of the butter. You should also omit the powdered sugar unless you want your cake to be extremely sweet . The pudding and whipped topping are sweet enough by themselves. adding the plain cream cheese balances the taste of the pudding mixture and gives it the perfect sweetness. It's a bummer when you try a recipe with great ratings and end up disappointed with the results. I hope this review helps. (no offense to who-ever submitted the recipe, just giving my honest opinion :)

Simple But Awesome Lemon Pepper Pork Chops

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2008
Pretty good, I added a little salt and a couple shakes of onion powder to add flavor. P.S. It's a no-brainer that you would probably need to place the foil packets on a baking sheet, for you who need the obvious stated:)

Pam's Bierocks

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2007
Very tasty filling, however, the dough was a bit too sweet for our taste, I suggest using abot 1/4 cup sugar instead of 1/2 cup and it will turn out great!

Rhinelander Lentil Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2007
I like my soups thick and hearty, so I only used twelve cups of water. I also didn't have celery and carrots on hand so I used frozen peas and carrots instead. I doubled the amount of lentils and tripled the potatoes as suggested in another rating. I also used 4 bouillon cubes and half a package of lean bacon. The soup came out wonderfully and will definately make it again!
