Cookie Press Shortbread

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2011
These turned out nicely. Very brittle, but it melts in your mouth. It has a subtle sweet flavor and everyone enjoyed them.

Gingerbread Boys

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2011
This was, ok. I wasn't a fan of the orange flavor, I felt that it overpowered the ginger I wanted to taste. Others that tried it liked it though. The baking temp and time was off and the dough spread during baking so it lost it's shape. I had to adjust the temp to 250°F and baked for 8-10 minutes, otherwise it came out slightly burnt.

Cranberry Sauce I

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2010
Good simple recipe, my family loved it. I continued to cook it for a few minutes after all of the berries popped and a good portion of the liquid evaporated in the pan. Then I cooled it in the fridge for an hour to let it set. When it was time to serve, I pulled it out and gave it a god stir for a more fluid consistency (it became jelly as it sat in the the fridge) .

Simple and easy recipe. I mixed the dough, kneaded it on the counter and cut into biscuits.

Alfredo Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2009
This turned out wonderfully. Make sure to whisk the butter/cream while it simmers so it doesn't separate. I also added 2 cloves of garlic and dried parsley instead because I didn't have any fresh on hand.

Kettle Corn

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2009
This turned out so well! Came out just like the kettle corn from the farmer's market. I used the "3 kernel method." Heat the oil and add 3 kernels into the pot. When the all of the kernels pop the oil is ready. Add the sugar and mix to let it melt. Then add the rest of the kernels. Mix/shake so it won't burn while cooking (it was recommended from other reviews to shake 3 seconds and let stand for 3 seconds). And finally, enjoy!

Cheddar Buttermilk Biscuits

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2008
I've been meaning to make some biscuits from scratch and I came across this recipe. I omitted the cayenne, and they turned out wonderfully. I added a little more cheddar then what was written, and I think I'll actually add more next time as well. Thanks for sharing :)

Buttermilk Scones

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2008
I enjoyed trying this recipe. I love scones so I had to try it out. They came out pretty good, but as someone pointed out there's too much baking powder. The scones came out more fluffy then I'm accustomed to. I'm going to try it with 2tsp of baking powder instead of 2tbs. I also added 1/2 c sugar, to sweeten the scone. It turned out wonderfully other then the cake like texture.

Flourless Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2008
These turned out pretty good. They were good bite size cookies and great for everyone that loves peanut butter. They came out small the way the recipe is written. Next time I'm going to try doubling the batch, adding vanilla, and making the size bigger.

Snickerdoodles V

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2008
These were great! I made these for a potluck, and one of my co-workers asked for the recipe. I made the mistake of making a batch a little too small so they came out a little dry and crunchy, but still good :). Thanks for sharing!

Miso Soup

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2008
Wonderful recipe! I made this for a Japanese themed dinner and everyone loved it. The only thing I can think of to change is the amount of tofu. I doubled the batch and found that it was a bit more than I expected. Thanks so much for sharing, I've wanted to learn how to make this for a long while!

Hawaiian Tarts

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2008
I used this for a Hawaiian themed potluck, and my co-workers (and family) loved it :) I did however make adjustments to the recipe... I omitted the coconut/egg portion of the recipe because one of my co-workers was allergic (my family liked it with the coconut/egg). I also used other fruit preserves for fillings. When I first tried the recipe I had a problem with some of the tarts breaking apart in the pan :(. But, as others mentioned, taking them out while they're still warm helps the tarts to come out more easily (... also buying a new nonstick pan helps a lot too x3). I think I’m going to try using the dough for butter cookies as another reviewer entered. Everyone loved the tart shell itself so it sounded like a good idea to try. Thanks for sharing Jan!
