Shrimp Lemon Pepper Linguini

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2011
While the overall dish was pretty good, all I really wanted to do was soak up the sauce with my garlic bread. It was delicious! I'm thinking about making the sauce just for bread dipping next time!

Baby Back Ribs

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2011
I'm sure there is a reason you need to leave them in the fridge for 8+ hours, but I don't see the purpose. I left them in for about 4 and they turned out perfect. I can't imagine them tasting any better. The bones just fall away from the meat because it's so tender. The foil does leak, so I put a pan underneath them to catch the drippings. I also took the advice of several and put extra bbq on and broiled them for about 10 minutes. The barbeque sauce is watery after it cooks, so definitely broil it to get the bbq to stick. I was completely intimidated by ribs before, but never again! This was too easy!

Stuffed Pattypan Squash

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2011
I can appreciate the creativity of this dish, but it did not work for me. Although the dish looks pretty and appetizing after it is made, it tastes so dry. The bread crumbs, bacon, parmesan all made me thirsty and had almost no flavor when combined with one another. You can taste the individual parts, but they just don't work well together in this dish.

Catfish Cakes

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2011
As a somewhat inexperiences cook, I appreciate attention to detail. There are no cook times and because of that, my first two "crab" cakes fell apart due to my trying to see if they were brown. Other than that, this is a delicious recipe. I used tilapia instead of catfish, as they had none at the store. It turned out really great! I did not think to make a sauce, but it could have benefited from one.

Suki's Spinach and Feta Pasta

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2011
I am usually pretty wary of pasta that has no sauce with it, as it is usually dull and bland. I thought this would be the same, but feta and spinach sounded so good I couldn't resist the urge to try it. The juice from the tomatoes and the feta mix with the oil and sort of provides a "sauce", so this was actually very tasty! I made a few changes though to accomodate what I had in my pantry. My husband is a meat-eater, so I made this with chicken. I just put sliced chicken pieces in with the onion and garlic and sauteed for about 4 minutes or so. I used canned tomatoes and I did not use mushrooms because I had none. I cooked the noodles in chicken broth. I forgot to put in the red pepper until after I had already made the entire dish. I think it was better without the it.

Curried Coconut Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2011
Yum yum yum! I made this with white rice and it was delicious and so easy! The house did smell like curry the next day, so beware. I love the smell, so it was an added bonus!

Italian Breaded Pork Chops

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2011
This was a delicious recipe! The pork chops were so tender and juicy! I did, however, only put the chops in the oven for about 12 minutes. 20 minutes would have dried them out. I used pork chops that were about 1/2 inch in thickness, so maybe the 20 minutes was for a thicker cut. Also, I omitted the garlic as it seemed like a waste to cook it and set it aside for another use.

Key Lime Pie VII

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2011
This key lime pie is so refreshing! Other than having to squeeze the juice out of and grate the limes, this recipe is a cinch and takes no time at all.

Gourmet Mushroom Risotto

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2011
This recipe does not even take close to 15 - 20 minutes to cook. It took about 40 minutes to make this and I didn't even use some of the chicken broth. Plus, it's way too salty because of the broth. It is definitely not worth the time it took to make it.

The Best Steak Marinade

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2011
I have made this recipe twice with different results. Once, I marinated this a thin top sirloin for several hours and it was to die for! The second time, I marinated a thick ribeye for about an hour. I'm not sure if it was the short time or the thickness of the meat, but I couldn't even tell there was a marinade on it. Either way, if left to marinate for a good time, this recipe is wonderful! It's tangy, sort of sweet and takes a minute to prepare.

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2011
After reading the reviews, I changed the cook temp and time (375 degrees for 45 minutes). I also doubled the sauce and added garlic salt and poultry seasoning to both the chicken mixture and the sauce like one reviewer suggested. It was delicious and cooked perfectly. And it was EASY, which is always important in my household! I think it's possible it would be too dry without doubling the sauce, but since I didn't use the exact recipe, I won't decrease it to 4 stars.

Honey Curried Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2011
My husband LOVES chicken on the bone and in my opinion, that is just boring! So, I like to sauce it up when I make. This sauce is absolutely delicious! It's sweet and, although I thought 3 tablespoons of curry was too much, had just the right amount of curry in it. Add the mushrooms and this is definitely a 5 star recipe! Love it! Thanks for sharing!

Smothered Green Beans

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2011
I have long been intimidated by fresh green beans and always used canned. I decided to branch out with this recipe. I did not have bacon, so I just used the onion and garlic. It was delicious. I know the bacon would have made it taste even better. I would, however, take the bacon out after I cook it so as not to make the green beans greasy.

Baked Pork Chops I

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2011
I have skipped over this recipe so many times due to the very simple name. I'm glad I decided to give it a try because it's delicious. So easy to make and very yummy. Luckily, I read the reviews before putting my pork chops in the oven because the hour and a half would have completely dried out my pork chops. I put them in for 20/20 and they turned out great.

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2011
Somewhat disappointed with this recipe. To begin, my meat mixture, although tasty, did not make enough for the dish. I should have doubled the meat recipe, as all the juices evaporated during the hour and a half cook time. Then, after cooking for an hour, the sides were crispy and almost burnt. I served this for family and no one really said much about it. Overall, this lasagna is bland and not worth the time spent making it.

Pasta Pomodoro

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2011
Because of the rave reviews, I planned to make this for a family get-together, but because I was a bit skeptical I decided to try it out before serving it to family. I'm glad I did because this recipe is very strange, and not in a good way. It's somewhat bland and the balsalmic and onion together makes for a really meaty and unusual taste. Plus, the very small amount of red pepper I used also made the dish pretty spicy. I would not recommend this recipe to anyone.

Chinese Chicken Fried Rice II

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2011
I changed my original rating of 3 to a 4 after making it a second time. I love bold flavors and this dish provides none of that. It's chicken fried rice, so obviously it's a bit bland. With that being said, however, this is actually a pretty good recipe. Definitely add the pepper at the end, as it enhances the flavor.

Peach Cobbler Dump Cake I

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2011
A friend made this recipe and thought I picked the fruit out (because I don't like fruit), the cake was delicious! It does have a strong butter flavor to it, but this is by far the easiest recipe I have ever seen made in my life.

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2011
When I pulled this meatloaf out of the oven, it looked overcooked and it was floating in the grease. I wasn't expecting much, but it was FANTASTIC and was perfectly cooked. My husband said it was the best meatloaf he had ever had. Next time, I will put bread under the meat to soak up the grease like another reviewer suggested and I will mix the brown sugar and ketchup and put on the top.

Easy Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2011
I cut this recipe down because I only wanted to make cookies for my husband and I. This did not turn out successful. Although they tasted pretty good, they had the texture of cake rather than the crispiness of cookies. I was disappointed, but will try to make them again without changing the serving size.
