The Cuervo Shot

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2008
If you're going to do tequila shooters go for the good stuff...Silver Patron. Much smoother than Jose Cuervo, IMO.

Chocolate Pretzel Rings

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2008
MMM, chocolate covered pretzels are one of my favorite treats but they are so annoying to make. These are a great alternative and were very easy. I could really only find the mini twists which was okay because in the end you're going to eat them anyways right? The Hugs ones turned out the worst looking because the chocolate middle melted at a slower rate than the white chocolate wo they weren't as pretty as the ones I used just using regular Kisses.

Quick Sunshine Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2008
I've made this twice now, both times the people that tried it said they liked it but it didn't disappear. The first time I thought it was way sweet but good. To cut back on the overpowering sweetness the second time I substituted the oil for unsweetened applesauce. I used manderin oranges that were sweetened with Splenda. For the topping both times I used instant lemon pudding to keep with the citrus theme. I mixed the pudding with pineapple with the juice drained and then folded in the whipped topping (low fat Cool Whip). It helped save some calories and it wasn't as overpoweringly sweet as the first time I made it. Next time I'm going to try and hunt down a lower sugar cake mix, that might just make it perfect.

Creamy Cream Cheese Frosting

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2008
I loved it, it was super easy and added 1 tsp. I cut the sugar down to 1 cup though and thought it was a little too sugary even cut back, I think next time I'll try 3/4. If you have trouble with texture make sure you soften the cream cheese to room temp, I had no prob with blending.

Tiramisu Martini

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2008
My favorite part about a tiramisu is the creaminess- this drink lacked that.

Italian Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2008
I don't like this recipe personally, my family loves it though. We always add a teaspoon or two of McCormick Salad Seasoning, a cup or so of chopped pepperoni, and a couple of chopped up sticks of string cheese.

Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2008
I won't make cornbread any other way but this recipe. I like my corn bread sweet to balance out the tang in the recipes you usually eat cornbread with.

Coco-Cola Cake II

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2007
What did I do wrong? I got a weird brownie thing and all the marshmallows pooled on top to form a weird goo. I was hoping for something like the Coke Cake that Cracker Barrel used to have, but I didn't get this too work. Not bad, but I won't make again. It was probably my mistake, but I can't see what I did wrong.

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2007
Ok, my absolute biggest piece of advice is don't double the batch. Big mistake on my part, I didn't have a bowl big enough to fit it all. If you buy a big can of pumpkin, half the can then mix up another batch. I set out to make this bread because my dad loves, loves, loves pumpkin chocolate chip cookies, so I added a bag of semisweet chocolate chips to each half of the batter (for most people smarter than me this means one bag to the batch) and I added more spices. I used a whole tsp of ground cloves, tsps of cinnamon, a dash of nutmeg and a dash of ginger. I had a problem with the top still being doughy after 50 minutes of baking, and there were still parts that were not done in the top after a few more minutes. Overall not a bad recipe. I also exchanged the whole amount of oil for unsweetened applesauce, the bread was plenty moist and I used about a 1/4 c less of sugar since I added the chocolate chips. Possibly add about 1/4 c of four and next time I'll use brown sugar vs white for a richer sugary flavor. My double batch made 4 9x4 loaves that came out big. Maybe trying smaller bread pans would keep the top from being a little doughy.

Cinnamon Bread Delight

My family liked it but I felt that this recipe just did not work for me. I'm going to try other recipes before returning to this one in the future to tweak with it futher.

Chicken Wing Dip

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2007
I thought it was good served w/ yellow corn tortilla chips, but it didn't disappear at my family's super bowl party and many of the clan like spicy things. I used low fat cream cheese and when I cooked the chicken I added the red hot sauce to give the chicken itself more of a kick too.

Cake Mix Cookies VIII

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2006
I have been looking for a good cake-mix recipe forever! Big huge tip, don't mix two boxed at the same time unless you have a heavy duty mixer. I did two by hand and my arm fell off. I also recommend to not use the pudding in the mix ones, they turn out kind of doughy.

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies I

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2006
Thank you so much for this recipe! I was able to make the best cookies for my dad since pumpkin cookies are his favorite. I doubled the recipe and used a whole can of pumpkin and lots of semi-sweet chocolate chips. For people who think they are too cake-like, that is how they are supposed to taste.

Egg Noodle Lasagna

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2006
I was not impressed, I'd just rather go with the hastle of making real lasagna and freezing it for a quick meal. I did substitue the egg noodles for elbow macaroni to get a more authentic taste, but in the end it just wasn't great. My dad and bro liked it, I just won't make it again.

Quick and Easy Alfredo Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2006
I was amazed at how much this tasted like "the real stuff." I eyeballed the ingredients though, when melting the butter and cream cheese together I didn't bother measureing the milk since most previous reviews said that it thickens fast, and it does. I always use more parmesean and garlic than suggested, heehee, and I used low fat cream cheese, you can't tell the difference. My only real complaint is that it will not heat up and be creamy again, leftovers aren't happening with this sauce, that just means you have an excuse to gobble it all up at once.
