Fudge Puddles

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2006
Wow wow wow! I loved these, made them for my boyfriend, big hit. I made mine with 1/2 c melted chocolate chips and 1/4 c cocoa powder. So the dough was peanut buttery and chocolate. Instead of condensed milk I used evaporated milk and made my filling in the microwave. It set-up very nicely. Great recipe!

Conchas (Mexican Sweet Bread)

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2006
Great little sweet bread, just like the ones in the mexican pan shops. I made 12 that were smaller then i expected so next time i will double the recipe and make 12 big conchas like the ones i remember. Eat them fast or the topping losses its crunch.

Tofu Fudge Mocha Bars

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2006
I made these bars on a lark and they were simple to make. I used brown sugar, and only used 1 and 1/2 cups of it. My bars were kinda rubbery... although they had a nice dark chocolate flavor. Maybe i cooked them to long. Hmmmm... this seems like it could be great and moist but my need a little work. I put them in the freezer, maybe they will make great frozen treats. Dont give up on this one but be carefull how long you cook and mix it.

Chocolate Mint Candies Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2007
Everything a mint lover could desire. Nice and soft cookie with yummy "frosting". Very good. Don't overbake or they get to crunchy.

Fiery Fish Tacos with Crunchy Corn Salsa

Reviewed: May 24, 2007
Very nice meal, and so quick! I loved the relish and used the leftovers on my salad the next day. I can't comment on the fish to much, i didn't follow the spice recipe at all. I mixed up some of my best spices for spicy fish and threw them on. I will make this again cause everyone loved it.

French Silk Chocolate Pie I

Reviewed: May 24, 2007
I used the pie filling to make ice cream sandwiches. I just put the fluff between two gram crackers and dunked the sides in grated chocolate. Then i froze them. My BF who loves french silk pie gobbled them up.

Delicious Raspberry Oatmeal Cookie Bars

Reviewed: May 24, 2007
I LOVED these bars. I made mine with cherry preserves and chocolate chips. The crust wasnt crumbley for me but i followed another reviewers advice and really worked the softened butter into the dough. I will make these over and over.

Naan

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2007
This was a big hit at my middle eastern party. I used whole wheat flour and cooked them on my ovens highest heat right on the grates. they didn't stay flat that way because some drooped over the grates, but they still cooked well and tasted great. I would still recommend cooking that way if you don't have a grill handy. After brushing with butter and wrapping in foil they stayed warm and yummy for a long time. Everyone said it was their favorite thing, guess i should have found a better curry recipe! Thanks for this will make again.

Linda's Monster Cookies

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2007
I made this recipe with some crushed cereal in place of some flour, I milled the cereal and half the oats in the food processor to have a finer textured cookie. Also used whole wheat flour and lots of 5 spice powder. Used raisins and chocolate chips, which both taste great with the spices. I replaced the egg with egg replacer powder and used all vegan margarine. The cookies turned out sooooo goood! I was worried cause the dough was a little crumbly but they are nice and chewy soft. hmmmm yum. Try this one. Would be great with peanut butter and coconut for a more authentic monster cookie. Overall I think this is a great base recipe to improvise off of. Thanks Linda!

Hot Fudge Sauce II

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2007
Very easy to make with stuff i had on hand. I used two dark chocolate bars, the semi sweet kind. I also subed lite coconut milk for the heavy cream and it tastes scrumptious!!! I only used 1/3 of the sugar called for because my chocolate was already sweet. Also I added less "milk" then called for in the recipe because i wanted a thick dark fudge sauce. This was perfect for me and is just the right consistency now that it is in the fridge. THANKS!!! Try this one and wow some friends.

Southwestern Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2007
I liked this recipe but not everyone at the table agreed. Everyone ate it except one guy who said it tasted like salsa mixed with pasta. Overall I think the salad needed more zip. I cut down on the chili powder because others said it was to spicy. I found the whole dish just a tad blah. I would put some Tabasco and sugar in the dressing next time. It was good but no one raved about it.

Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2007
These were a big hit. I made mine with whole wheat flour, 1/2 c oatmeal, all brown sugar, an extra banana for the egg, 1 cup frozen blueberries and only 1/4 c canola oil instead of butter. My paper wrappers were kinda greasy from the oil but no one seemed to mind but me. I guess if i had used butter or just subed applesauce the wrappers would have been fine. Overall they were delish!! The crumb topping makes them over the top good. I was suprised they came out so well because of all the changes i made. This is an excelent recipe and i will make these again.

Quick and Easy Brownies

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2008
Fudgy wudgy goodness.... hmmmm. We decreased the flour as suggested and love the fudge texture. Very chocolaty. I also subbed mini marshmallows for the walnuts. It was quick and easy, just like the recipe said. I was a little scared by the lack of instructions but just went with it and it worked perfectly.

Classic Spanish Sangria

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2009
Lovely! A smashing success! I have not had many sangria drinks in my time, but this recipe might just change that. It was very potent but not boozy. I used a cheap shiraz and a combo of fresh orange and grapefruit juice becuase thats all I had on hand. I also used some pinapple juice left over from another punch I made that night. Not a big deal. I went used 2/3rds the rum called for in the first batch but went all in for the next round. The fruit looks lovely when it turns red.

Cake Balls

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2009
These were very pretty, and were not hard to make but the filling just didn't taste that good to me on its own... I thought it was a bit pasty. I think making traditional truffles would be quicker (no cake baking) and have more "wow" effect.

Joan's Famous Mondel Brodt

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2009
These cookies are fantastic! I used the ingredients I had on hand, which were; Half butter and half oil (I only had a little bit of oil left), no nuts and lots of orange zest. I dipped them in chocolate and they taste like those kebler elve cookies with the chocolate strips.

Artichoke Spinach Lasagna

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2009
UNREAL. Everyone loved this. I (of course) made some changes. I added 1/2 of the broth called for and did not boil my noodles. I also added 1 can black olives and a layer of riccota cheese. I doubled the recipe and then tried to jam it into a 9x13 cause i wanted a super thick lasagna.... bad idea, i ended up making the 9x13 and a 9 x9. Leftovers were no problem! I made this for a dinner party and everyone loved it... its was worth the work.

One Bowl Brownies

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2009
I have tried a few brownie recipes from this site and this is the winner. I didn't have baker chocolate so I used 1 cup semi-sweet chips and decresed the sugar to 1 1/2 c. Baked for 22 minutes and used the foil trick. Very very good. Tastes like a really good quality brownie mix. chewy, rich. Next time I am going to try and bake it in a 9x9. If you try a homemade brownie... try these!

Fantastic flavor! I used oil and gently mixed them. Let the logs cool before cutting into them, it makes them alot easier to slice. Yum!
