Meeh making my first Thanksgiving Dinner
About this Cook
I grew up as a Hamburger Helper kid & vowed to never be that kind of parent...it's so bad for you!!! Since being married & having my kids I've enjoyed cooking healthy low cost foods for my family. I've learned to cook with what I have on hand & my dishes all always pass the kid test.
My favorite things to cook
Filipino Food, baked goods, fresh veggies, & anything that's sounds good.
My favorite family cooking traditions
healthy & low in fat
My cooking triumphs
Making my first Thanksgiving dinner in 08. I made every thing from scratch and it was the best! I will definitely be cooking again and look forward making this a family tradition that I can share with my kids.
My cooking tragedies
I always burn/overcook my first batch of cookies every time. You'd think I'd learn but it never fails.

Chicken and Rice Casserole II
I nixed the mushrooms and added in 1c broccoli & 1c califlower. The cheese sauce is fantastic too. I used BLSL chicken too, using the left over stock instead of buying it from the store. I also took the onions from the stock and pureed then added to the cheese mixture...a shame to waste them. Definitely add 1/2-1c more of rice though. It's a great "from scratch" recipe that I will make again.
