Pioneer Cut Dumplings from the 1800's

Reviewed: May 4, 2014
This is definitely my favorite recipe that I've referred all my friends to use this recipe. It's a snap to put together; so easy to adjust to your liking be it drops, squares, thick or thin and long.

Berry Good Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2013
Good. Key is to read entire recipe/instructions and reviews and improvise to best of your decision. Knowing what to expect lessen the disappointment. Since I used thawed frozen raspberries, it had a lot of liquid so I used only 2/3 cup and without the brown sugar. I baked in glass pan for 35 minutes. For those who said coffeecake came out thin?!? Yall probably didnt use EIGHT INCHES pan. I will make this again.

I made my own revisions and it rocked, so good that everyone's asking for the recipes. So this recipe is great as base starter then you make the revisions.

Brown Sugar Instant Oatmeal Muffins

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2012
It was a little dense and sticky, I dont know if that contributed from subsituting veg oil with apple sauce? I used apples & cinnamon instant oatmeal. It was very good.

I loved it and thought it was great. I made it into 6 jumbo muffins, crumbled it into bowl and topped it with fresh sliced strawberries mixed with sugar.

Cha Cha's White Chicken Chili

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2012
I have been forever using McCormick white chicken chili seasoning packet, now I don't have to! This is a real good recipe! After reading other reviews about how spicy it is, I used two cans of chopped green chilies, not diced jalapeno peppers at all. I used 2 full sized chicken breast, diced then sauteed. I used only 2 cans of white beans. I made me own low-sodium chicken broth (approx 3-1/2 cups), I rinsed and drained the beans to try to remove as much of sodium. I added 2 tablespoons of masa harina to thicken it. This is really good!

Yakisoba Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2011
I did everything to a T. I actually used 3 Tbsp of Chili paste. I'm glad I did, its spiced just right. I only had 2 chicken breasts, next time I will add more chicken. Flavor-wise, I felt like it was missing something, I just cant put a finger on it.

Sugar Cookie Icing

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2011
4 Stars...because I felt that recipe measurment were incorrect, I used other sugar cookie glaze to help me with this one because I preferred milk over water. When used with correct amount (measurement) it is awesome glaze. Not so sweet and it hardens perfectly and is easily stacked once it hardens.

The Best Valentine Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2011
I'm giving it only 4 stars because yes, as per other reviews, it does taste sorta flour-y but it didn't bother me or anyone else. It may not be as sweet as other sugar cookies but when used with sugar cookie glaze, it suffices instead of making it too much sweeter. I thought it was great.

Cranberry Swirl Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2010
I had leftover whole berry cranberry from Thanksgiving so this was perfect recipe to use up. I goofed (this was 5am-half-asleep) and didn't swirl the cranberry into batter nor did I layer it thrice. I spread first layer of batter then dumped cranberry sauce then covered with rest of batter. I thought it came out GREAT anyway. I also found out I only had half cup of sour cream. I will be more prepared next time. Overall, it's SO good.

Marble Crumb Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2010
It's more of cake-coffeecake, you get half-half, best of both worlds. It goes GREAT with coffee. I made it for my boyfriend's birthday at work. Some of co-workers admitted they've had FOUR servings of it. Next time I will try adding cinnamon for extra flavor kick, otherwise, it's so good the way it is! I used pecans instead of walnuts, after all I'm a Texan. :)

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Believe it or not, this is my 12 yr old daughter's favorite recipe to make, Yup you read that right. SHE makes this, not me. She has made this few times. If I may add, she does a mighty good job! It's really simple and very good!

Brooklyn Girl's Penne Arrabiata

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2010
IT was GREAT! Tad bit too spicy for my 12 yr old but she cleaned her plate anyway. I used turkey breast cutlets and breaded it with ranch flavored seasoned bread crumbs. I did not cut it in slices and mix it with sauce. After I mixed pasta with sauce, I spooned it on plate and placed the turkey cutlets on top of it. I put in tons of garlic cloves because I wanted to use it up, it was sitting in my fridge. I dont think I will need to worry about Vampires when going to bed tonight.

Apple Oatmeal Crisp

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2009
I had hard time getting my daughter to like any apple crisp I made. I think I struck gold with this one, she asked for second helping. I omitted white sugar as I felt it was sweet enough. I didnt have any cinnamon on hand so I used allspice. It is awesome and now sitting in my recipe box for future cooking.

Georgia Peach Homemade Ice Cream

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2009
Not bad! Than again I dont have that much experience in homemaking ice cream. I used 4 cups of chopped drained canned peach slices. I like how easy it is, I'm not too crazy about cooking the ice cream base before putting it in the ice cream maker.

Coco-Cola Cake II

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2009
ingredients were right but steps/instructions werent in right place. it is important that marshmallows gets to be added to bowl right after the cocoa-coke mixture so it has chance to melt (incorporate with the batter) before eggs and buttermilk is added. Baking soda should be added to the dry mixture.

Pecan Pumpkin Biscuits

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2008
I used homemade pureed pumpkin from my garden. By the time I had added everything, it didnt look like it needed milk (I didnt have any half/half) but I added a tablespoon of 1% milk at a time (I needed only two tablespoons) and it sufficed. I also used Splenda instead of regular sugar. I didnt add pecans. It tasted great, my husband and daughter loved them.

Chocolate Applesauce Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2008
Being always a cook at spur of moment, I rarely plan. My butter wasnt given chance to soften so I just melted it and added to the sugar/egg mixture gradually making sure I dont cook the eggs. I subsituted Splenda for sugar. I only had one cup of applesauce so I used one cup of pureed pumpkin in addition. I didnt make any topping at all. It came out so great. It was gone by 10am break at my work. I most definitely will make this again and refer to my friends/families. I baked for only 25 min.

Sweet Potato Bread I

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2007
I'm not too crazy about breads. Muffins are easier for me. I followed the recipe but subsituted with splenda and allspice. I poured into 12 muffin pan. My daughter loved it so much. I took the remaining 10 muffins to work and I had just sat down to my desk when someone brought back the basket. It was empty already. Coworkers obviously loved it.
