Beef Bulgogi

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2014
believe it or not, I made this as a freezer meal. last month, i was on here looking for different recipes to add to my OAMC repertoire and i decided to try this one. i followed directions for the marinade and stuck some cheap thin sliced steaks in a baggie...i think may have added a touch of pineapple juice to the marinade….. and put them in the back of my freezer (with a note on how to prepare and to serve w/ scallions) and forgot about it. Fast forward to last nite...I bought some scallions and remembered i had this stashed--- so i pulled it out. i didn't expect it to be all that great…but i was wrong... it was excellent!! I made this as a lettuce wrap, served with a touch of hoisin sauce, and it was a really tasty, satisfying but light summer dinner. will go in my freezer meal rotation. If you are making this tonight, do yourself a favor and double this recipe and freeze additional portion for another meal. it will taste just as great as the one you make tonight! U will not regret it! THIS IS A GREAT RECIPE FOR THOSE WHO DO OAMC!!!

Tuna Ball

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2013
I made my version of the TUNA BALL by doing a mash-up/hybrid recipe based on the "Barbie's Tuna Salad" recipe on this site. I just basically followed the BTS recipe and added cream cheese. I shaped the ball and wrapped it in plastic wrap and let it sit overnight. It was amazing. Everyone raved about my curry tuna ball at my Christmas party. It was actually the preferred over the expensive smoked salmon pate I made, much to my surprise.

Baby Back Ribs

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2008
I used regular spareribs and made these in the crock pot *no foil* after marinating overnight w/ reviewer Cathy M's dry rub and the BBQ sauce. I left them on low for about 3.5 hours and did a quick blast under the broiler w/ a fresh coast of BBQ sauce. They were awesome. My hubby's friend called me "Tony Romas". LOL

Buttermilk Coleslaw

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2008
This is a great base recipe. I added in a tablespoon of minced onion, a capful of apple cider vinegar, and I shredded a few baby carrots I had on hand. It was very creamy.

Michelle's Famous Washed Cranberry Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2007
A perfect recipe for cranberry sauce. The color was divine, the balance of tart and sweet was heavenly. I added a 1/2 cup of OJ and a generous splash of Grand Marnier to mine. My mother (who lives right next door) made hers w/o the OJ and GM and I preferred hers over mine, but mine was fabulous so it was a close call. Five stars all around. No excuse to eat it from a can. Fresh is best and so easy.

Homestyle Turkey, the Michigander Way

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2007
This was the best turkey I have made by far. It had a very classic, almost retro taste and look to it. So simple, yet so tasty. My modifications: I brined the turkey overnight, eyeballed the amounts of spice rather than using the recipes' exact amount, stuffed the cavity w/onion & thyme, and started the roasting process by sprinkling a little bit of light flavored olive oil on the breast and placing it uncovered in 500 degree oven for 1/2 hour. **This, along with the recipe made for a PREFECTLY browned bird.** I then covered it in foil and lowered the temp to 350 for the duration of the cooking time. It was really moist and tasty. SO AWESOME!!

Watermelon Summer Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2007
I've been making this for years. The recipe is great, but definetly an aquired taste!!! It's refreshing, tangy, salty & sweet. I really enjoy it every time I have it. All ingredients are necessary, but I have sub'd the feta w/ blue cheese in the past.

Broiled Tilapia Parmesan

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2007
I love this recipe!! You can adjust it to whatever you have on hand. I preseasoned the fish filets w/ blackened redfish seasoning (which gave it a nice kick), substituted the original ingeredients w/ whole celery seed, garlic salt, and sprinkled panko breadcrumbs over the top. My family gobbled this down. My only tip would be to carefully watch the time. It's FAST!!

Ranch Dressing II

It seems that the buttermilk was missing from this recipe, so I added about a half cup or so. The taste is really thich and rich. I loved it.

Slow Cooker Stuffing

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2006
AWESOME RECIPE! I cut back on the broth, too. I merely moistened my stuffing, and added touches of broth as I went along. I was procrastinating & saved this recipe for the very end. I wound up putting it in the Crock pot on high for 2 1/2 hours. The end result was moist (but not too mushy) and flavorful--with a slight crust on the bottom, as if it had been in the oven. (BTW- I couldn't imagine it being on low for four hours--way too long, in my opinion. Cut the time in half, as I did.) And stop scratching your heads over the bread cubes..I used 2 bags of Pepperidge Farm preseasoned stuffing , which complimented theherbs & spices in the recipe. I got great compliments on this dish, and it tasted better the day after. I will do my stuffing like this from now on. It's a space & time saver. Thanks for sharing.

Cranberry Sauce I

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2006
Easy to make, tasty, and the deep color was gorgeous. Can be a tad bit tangy, I'd use a bit more sugar--maybe som brown sugar too. I added Orange zest & a touch of Grand Marnier, defintely gave it a bit more orang-y depth. Great recipe!

Turkey Brine

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2006
I veered away from my usual brine recipe & used this one. My Turkey wasn't as moist it usually is. The flavor of the brine was great though. I am stuck in the middle with this one.

Green Bean and Portobello Mushroom Casserole

I used frozen Campbell's Select 'Cream of Portobello' soup with a touch of heavy cream. Tasted great, the Green bean casserole lovers in my family loved the recipe.
