Grandpop's Special Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2011
EXCELLENT cake recipe! And so easy! I made a mini version for my boyfriend's birthday...I halved the recipe; used Ghirardelli cocoa and a little extra vanilla. I baked the layers in 5" springform pans, it made four total layers at 25 min in the oven. Perfection! I will absolutely be making this again, the cake is divine.

Cheddar Bacon Hamburgers

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2010
Fantastic burgers. The only changes I made were to use hand-grated cheddar (instead of the pre-shredded kind) and to add some Worcestershire sauce and a little chili powder. I pan-fried the patties in a little olive oil and topped them with sliced cheddar on potato rolls.

Crescent-Wrapped Brie

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2010
We've made this recipe for years, it's fantastic! I spread some apricot jam on top of the brie before wrapping it in dough....delicious.

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2010
Great recipe. Very easy, very versatile! I used a bit more onion and ham than was called for, 14oz chicken broth and 12oz water, and I also added some cheddar cheese at the end. Definitely a keeper!

Toasted Garlic Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2010
Quick, easy garlic bread recipe that is very good for the amount of work involved! I used Parmesan in place of the mozzarella, and added a little parsley for more color. Yummy!

Rosemary Ranch Chicken Kabobs

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2010
I didn't have time to fool with kabobs, so I doubled the marinade and BAKED the cubed chicken in it at 350F for about 30min. The results were great, so I'll assume that the grilled version is even better!

Debdoozie's Blue Ribbon Chili

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2010
Great basic chili, and ridiculously easy! I used one can of dark kidney beans and one can of pinto beans. I also added a can of Ro-Tel tomatoes & green chiles, 1/2 a can of yellow corn, extra garlic, and used hot chili seasoning mix. It would be TOUGH to mess up this recipe! Give it a shot! My man took a double batch to a party at work and didn't have ANY left to bring home. Thanks Deb!

Bacon Wrapped Barbeque Shrimp

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2009
Easy and SO tasty! I used turkey bacon instead of pork, worked just fine for me. The second time I made this, I mixed up some barbecue sauce, worcestershire sauce, and old bay seasoning to coat the shrimp with, then I wrapped the bacon around 'em. Even more delicious!

Tiramisu Layer Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2007
An absolutely fabulous cake. As recommended, I did two coffee layers and one white. I also doubled the kahlua everywhere it was called for; it definitely was not too much liqueur. I made the cake for my dad for father's day, my family is Italian so it went over very well! The icing is divine, my stepmother was scraping the leftover out of the bowl to put in her coffee. I did use heavy whipping cream though, not heavy cream; the icing was light, airy and delicious! I will definitely be making this again, even my grandmother (the classic Italian cook) asked for the recipe! =)

Cheesecake Brownies

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2007
Fabulous. And so easy! I made them in a 8x8" glass pan since we like our brownies thick. It did take quite a bit of extra time to cook them through, but they were well worth the wait! Definitely pour 2/3 of the brownie batter in the pan first, then the cheesecake, then drizzle the remaining batter on top before swirling with a knife. It makes for a much better marbled effect.

Oatmeal Pudding Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2007
Not a traditional oatmeal cookie, but a very good variation! I did think the flavor of the pudding was a tiny bit overpowering, I will use less next time around. My younger sisters loved them!

Cream Cheese Cut-Outs II

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2007
Great cut-out cookies. I decorated them using royal icing and I must admit, they were hard to resist! Very good when decorated, I didn't care too much for the cookies by themselves. The dough is much easier to work with when thoroughly chilled.

White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cookies IV

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2007
Simply spectacular cookies. I gave these as a gift at Christmas time and they were gobbled up in a matter of hours! I didn't change a thing; used Ghiradelli white chocolate and chopped the macadamia nuts by hand. Be careful not to over cook these! Great recipe, a new family favorite.

Birthday Bones

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2007
Wonderful recipe, happy tails wagging everywhere! I used a bone cookie cutter and a cat cookie cutter, they were too cute. My Doberman Pinschers and Golden Retriever loved them, as well as my friend's Lab! Will definitely be making these again, thanks for sharing =)

White Chocolate Blondies

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2007
Awesome recipe! It's the same as the one on the Ghiradelli packaging. Rich, moist, perfect little bars! I melted the white chocolate in the microwave, and sprinkled a few handfuls of mini semisweet chips on top of the batter instead of mixing them in. A huge hit with all the guys!

Snickerdoodles III

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2007
Fabulous! I made these as gifts for Christmas and everyone loved them. I prefer a bit chewier cookie, so I cooked them for slightly less time, about 7 minutes. Will definitely be making these again!
